Title: Jesus Is Risen / Matthew 28:1-8
Contents
- Victor Hugo said
“In the purpose of life, the purpose of today is to fight,
The purpose of tomorrow is to win
And the purpose of life is to die well."
But we have one more thing to say.
The real value of our lives is to live forever.
For this eternal life, Jesus overcame death and rose again.
Christianity is built on two pillars.
It is the death and resurrection of Jesus.
There are many people in this world who only praise Jesus' great lessons, his great love, and his amazing sacrificial service. And there are many who are trying to understand that that is all about Jesus. There are many who would not need anything more than that. But without the Resurrection of Christ, Christianity is like a plant without roots, like a well-made doll, a lesson without life or power. It will be just a scarecrow.
If that were the whole of Christian faith, as Paul said, “If in this life our only hope in Christ is this life, then we are the poorest of all men.” Paul exclaimed, “As in Adam all died, so in Christ all shall be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22). This is the Christian faith in the resurrection.
A king of Persia called dozens of famous scholars to know all the history of the world and said, "I want to know all the history of human affairs, so study it and report it to me." Dozens of people researched for decades and brought a scroll of history to several wagons. So the king asked me how can I read all of this when I am old, and I asked him to come in a bit more brief. Then it took several years to load it in one wagon. Then, he told me to reduce it even more, so I brought the entire human history in one scroll. The king speaks again. “There is too much of this. In short, what is the history of mankind?” At this time, the most representative scholar says: “In a word, it is born and then dies. It comes and goes.”
In this way, if life ends with death, then our life is truly meaningless.
It is Jesus who changed this empty life into the most valuable and amazing life.
It is Jesus who overcame death and rose from the dead who gave us eternal life and eternal kingdom.
-Life has to mature in three stages.
First, life is "to be born". Not satisfied with the birth of the body. really must be born. Why were you born? what am i Who am I? One must be truly born with the meaning of existence, self-establishment, and self-actualization.
Christianity calls this regeneration.
Second, life is "living". it's a living thing How will you live? The issue of values is presented. A person becomes a true life when they start to live with their own responsibilities. You must live a life of sharing and living with your neighbors.
We must learn how to live in Jesus.
Philosophers said that doing right is the real life, ethicists are doing right things, poets feel it right and loving vigorously is real life, and religious people say that believing rightly is real life. The answer is that to die right away is to live.
When we die in Jesus, we can live a righteous life.
Third, life is "save".
He is a person who knows how to help others who are living while saving many people who are still living without knowing the value of life.
We have to be the ones who get to this stage.
This is not possible politically. not even with money
It is possible only with the life of Jesus and the power of Jesus.
The life of Jesus, who died for our sins and was resurrected, saves people.
Ex) England was a country of pirates, but when the life of Jesus was planted in that country, that country became a country of gentlemen.
Go Jae-bong, a murderer who killed a family with an ax, also changed and became a new person when the life of Jesus entered.
The life of the resurrected Jesus saves people.
It is to save life as a true person and as a person of eternal life.
- The resurrection of Jesus made a great history for the disciples at the time.
1. He instilled certain faith in his doubting disciples.
*Meet the disciples of Emmaus,
*Come to Thomas.
(John 20:27) And he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and reach out your hand and put it in my side; and do not be unbelievers, but believers.
Ex) Paul also met the resurrected Jesus on the road to Damexic and was changed.
I hope you will meet the resurrected Jesus today.
I hope that doubt will be transformed into confidence, disbelief into faith, and unbelief into living faith.
2. He gave joy and comfort to the disciples who were engulfed in sorrow.
(Matthew 28:8) The women left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to make known to the disciples.
sad world. It is a world where pain and suffering weigh us down.
But when they meet Jesus, people overflow with great joy.
Ex) The jailer in the Philippian prison also believed in God and the family was overflowing with great joy.
Jesus wants us to live with joy.
(John 15:11) I give these names to you, that my joy may be in you and your joy may be full.
(John 16:24) Until now you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be full.
(John 17:13) Now I am coming to the Father, and I say these things in the world, that they may have My joy in them to the full.
I hope that this Easter, the life of the risen Jesus overflows, and all the sorrow and darkness in your homes, lives, and hearts go away, and the joy of the Lord fills you.
3. He gave new strength and courage to the disciples who were trembling in despair, discouragement, and anxiety.
He opened the locked door and went in and said, "Are you in peace?"
Ex) Goethe's Faust
(Romans 8:34) Who can condemn? It is Christ Jesus who died, and was raised again, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
May the shells of despair and discouragement be broken.
May the life of the risen Jesus overflow and the peace of the Lord abound.
4. He gave the hope of eternal life to those who trembled in the face of death.
Even Peter, who was afraid of death, became bold to the point of being martyred.
(John 11:25-26) Jesus said to them, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?
-Dear saints!
The resurrected Jesus is still alive today.
Jesus, who walked on the road to Emmaus, walks with us today in our exhausted and despairing steps.
Jesus, who visited the disciples who were immersed in anxiety and sorrow, still visits those who are weeping in sorrow and anxiety, giving them courage and strength.
Even to those who are afraid of death, the Lord will open his eyes and show him a new heaven and a new earth, and he will give us the hope of eternal heaven and welcome us there.
We pray.
Jesus overcame death and rose again. Come to this place.
May the life of Jesus, the power of Jesus overflow in us, so that we can all be resurrected anew and run again to challenge the Lord with a new life.
Amen.
