Title: Jesus, my King (Matthew 21:1-11)
Contents The faces of the crowd who acknowledged as a king, had prophetic expectations, believed in him as a prophet, stood on the side of Jesus and welcomed Jesus with his disciples, changed completely after five days.
“Release Barabbas, crucify Jesus.” You can see that they are changing into the form of a crowd that takes the lead in crucifying Jesus under the urge of the chief priests, elders, and the leaders of that time.
Now let's conclude. Let's not miss the fact that you and I were among this group. Why did Jesus carry the cross for our sins? Then, although I was not in the field 2000 years ago, I am a person who joined the group mentally, spiritually, and morally. We are the conspirators of this crowd. If Jesus had to be crucified because of our sins, on that day in the crowd, you were in the scene of these mobs shouting, "Crucify him, release Barabbas and crucify him." We must not forget that there was.
But at the same time, let's remember this. The Lord has forgiven us.
The Lord has given us another chance. Through the Holy Spirit, he pointed out in our hearts that the sin that crucified Jesus was my sin, and he struck our heart. Following the work of the Holy Spirit working on me, we repented and returned to the cross. I got down on my knees. This was God's grace. This was God's love. Because of this love, because of this grace, we have the courage to walk toward the cross again this week of Passion.
We can stand before the cross again, knowing that I was the one who broke into this crowd and shouted, “Crucify him,” because I am convinced of the love of God that forgives me. On the basis of this love, our faith in this week of Passion must never be a faith buried in the heat of the crowd. That I must be able to reach a deep personal encounter and conviction with that Jesus again, that is the lesson that the crowd around the cross on that day teach me and you.
The kingdom of God is not made up of physical things. Nor is it built in any one country. Rather, the kingdom is spiritual. God still rules the lives of all who confess Jesus as King.
