Title: Jesus Overcame Temptation / Luke 4:1-13

Content Jesus overcame temptation / Luke 4:1-13

Key Verse: “Jesus answered and said, It is written, Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only” (verse 8).

Today's sermon depicts a scene where Jesus, who is 'filled with the Holy Spirit' is being tempted by Satan under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. If you look at the characteristics of the three temptations that Satan tempted Jesus, you can see how cunning he was. The first two trials made Jesus to show off the power that he should have naturally possessed as the Son of God. In particular, we find that he is tempting Jesus by citing Old Testament passages and plausibly. Considering these temptations naively, it is easy to find a human being. It seems to suggest that it be possible to present a 'plausible' miracle that could elicit the respect and worship of

By turning stones into bread to satisfy the most basic needs of man, he would have been able to satisfy the crowds who only pursue 'flesh food'. And, by showing that he is still intact even if he falls from the top of the temple, which is about 130m high, a 'shining show' performed by a superman or superman. It would have been able to lead to the worship of the crowd seeking '.

However, as it is clear in today's verse, he avoided such 'self-expression'. It was not because he could not do it, but because he could do it. Of course, he knew. It is the fact that you can neither make people know nor satisfy the true needs of human beings by the method of receiving them.

Also, the 'reward' promised through the last test recorded here must have sounded very attractive. From anyone's point of view, it was a way to easily be recognized as the 'Son of God'. .But, as is evident elsewhere in the New Testament, He chose the most difficult way, the cross, rather than the seemingly easy way, for it was the only way that could save man from death and destruction.

There are three main lessons we can learn from Jesus overcoming temptation in this way. First, it is the importance of completely trusting in God. Second, we must seek God's will rather than seeking our own. Finally, in each of the three tests, quoting God's Word and overcoming those tests, we all need to see the importance of 'fullness of the Word'. For such an image, we not only eat the Word from time to time, but also eat the Word. We need to live while chewing the cud. We need to be wary of exaggerating ourselves more than we really are. To avoid bringing glory to ourselves, we must imitate the humility of Jesus who hid even his true face. .Also, unlike many modern 'leaders' who try to mobilize a workaround to give a 'quick fix' rather than a 'complete and perfect' solution, hardship and patience are required, but the only and most perfect way is the Way of the Cross. It is necessary to consider the true meaning of Jesus who chose .

Prayer: God help us to live according to His guidance, like Jesus, who lived according to Heavenly Father's will, not his own will or his own will. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
