Title: Jesus Suffered Humanly
The process of the public life of Jesus Christ (5)
(Jesus suffered humanly)
Text/ Hebrews 2:17-18
1. Introduction
A great king summoned the wise men and gave the order to “study and report what lessons must be taught to the people in order to make this country strong.” A year later, the sages came with five books. The king said that the contents were good, but the quantity was too large, so I had to reduce it. A year later, the sages were reduced to two volumes. The king said to reduce it further. Another year later, the sages reduced the volume to one volume. There are still many kings, when will people who are busy with their livelihoods read, memorize and learn all of this one book? Honey, I asked all the people to shorten it to one word so that it is easy to remember and understand.
Another year later, the sages reduced, reduced, shortened, condensed into one word, and reported to the king, which was <Nothing for free!>. The king was overjoyed. It is said that all the people lived up to this precept and built a strong nation.
2. Nothing comes without hardship (No Coross, No Crown!)
<No Cross, No Crown!> is the biblical expression for <Nothing is Free!>. “Nothing happens without suffering”. We are well aware of how tumultuous the lives of all the great men of the Bible, such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, David, Job, Daniel, etc., were filled with tumultuous trials and tribulations.
They too were troubled, frustrated, and discouraged when they encountered hardship and adversity. They also groaned with tears, and feared, and wept. I am weary with groaning, and every night I make my bed with tears and wet my mattress. Psalm 6:6. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me Psalm 22:1. Fear and trembling have come upon me, and desolation has overshadowed me Psalm 55:5. I am weary from crying, my throat is thirsty Psalm 69:3. Thou hast kept me from closing my eyes; I am in agony and cannot speak. Psalm 77:4.
However, the reason that these people are standing tall as splendid monuments in the history of the generations to come is because they did not yield in the face of their hardships and adversity. Sometimes we cried, we broke, we cried, wept, we stumbled, but we never surrendered. They shed their blood, sweat and tears, weeping, weeping, weeping, step by step, step by step, step by step... Overcoming all the pain and hardships, the land flowing with milk and honey because it has reached
3. Jesus also suffered human suffering before divine suffering
The text says, “Jesus, having suffered when being tempted, is able to help those who are being tempted” (Hebrews 2:18). In other words, Jesus is well aware of the pain and suffering we are going through today because He suffered all the suffering that a human being could suffer before that holy cross. Therefore, it means that He is not the one who understands all our trials and sufferings, but is able to help.
So, what were the human sufferings that Jesus suffered?
A) Due to the early death of his father Joseph, he suffered economic hardship as the head of a poor carpenter family who had to take care of at least eight dependents (Mark 6:3), including four younger brothers, two younger sisters, and mother Mary.
B) I was not recognized by my family and relatives, and I even heard that I was crazy. He was ignored by those closest to him (Mark 3:21).
C) He was rejected by the people of his hometown (Luke 4:16-30).
d) He suffered constantly mentally, physically and mentally from the ruling party of the time, the Herodians, Pharisees, Sadducees, scribes, and priests.
E) Foxes have burrows and flying sparrows have nests, but the Son of Man suffered from a life that was difficult to sustain his basic livelihood to the point that he had nowhere to lay his head (Luke 9:58).
4. The Meaning of Jesus' Human Suffering
The list of sufferings of Jesus above is not intended to prove that Jesus suffered all kinds of things. We just want to remember that Jesus suffered the same human suffering as we are.
Jesus, like us, suffered from poverty, misunderstanding and rejection by close people, conspiracies of swindlers, frustration from the sluggishness of the gospel work for the kingdom of God, terrorism and the threat of death... is.
5. Closing Story
Even Jesus suffered all these sufferings, sometimes sighing, sometimes frustrated, and sometimes weeping. But he never backed down, evaded, or ran away. Therefore, Jesus is our comforter, friend, and brother.
