Title: Jesus the Hated
2014. 10. 12 Sunday morning sermon
Bible: John 7:7
Title: Jesus the Hated
John 7:7 “The world does not hate you, but it hates me, for I testify that the things of the world are evil” - Amen.
In the biblical interpretation of the results of believing in Jesus, you will be able to hear both sides of the interpretation that positively, there is no choice but to prosper and be blessed, or negatively, to suffer.
It may be a bit confusing, but the truth is that the events of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection are so instructive that we should listen to both. But instead of listening to dualism, you should combine the two cases to benefit your faith.
1. Jesus Reveals Self-Confidence and Confessing Human Sin
It is said that there is no Jesus in the world's four great saints (Jesus, Confucius, Shakyam, and Socrates) initially selected by Japanese Buddhist thinkers, but instead, he was Kant, and then Kant was replaced by Jesus, and he was confirmed as the current four great saints. As an adult, I think I understood Jesus only from the moral part.
If we had tried to find out in detail why Jesus even died on the cross, it would have been difficult to treat them like ordinary people.
If you objectively look at what Jesus did to his neighbor and sin enough to deserve death, you will find that it is difficult for even non-believers to understand.
1) Religious issues
Among the four great saints in the world, no one called himself the Son of God. This is another personal part of Jesus among the four great saints.
John 10:33 “The Jews… we do not want to stone you, but because of blasphemy, because you are a man and call yourself God.”
John 5:18 “The Jews wanted to put Jesus to death… because he called God his own Father, making him equal with God.”
2) Social issues
Jesus was hated because he did not only say good words or good moral lessons like ordinary saints, but he also spoke directly about human sinfulness and social evil. It's not the content.
John 7:7 “The world… hates me, because I testify that the things of the world are evil.”
2. Prepare to be hated if Jesus is the model for the saints' life
The gospel is good news, and in order for that good news to occur, we must hear what the world that has received the gospel must experience. Where in the world is free?
The fact that the gospel is good news tells the result, and the beginning of the gospel for joy is the proclamation of the forgiveness of sins. The first words of Jesus' public life were,
Matthew 3:2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand..”
And the purpose of everything written in the Bible before his ascension into heaven, that is, the ultimate goal of the gospel, is Luke 24:47 “And it is written that repentance for the forgiveness of sins shall be preached in his name to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.”
So, where in the world would you like to cry out for repentance? However, because of this sin, man must receive eternal punishment and the world in which we live due to the wretchedness of sin must also be changed.
That is why the church exists in the world for the purpose of eradicating sin and gaining the peace of God. Therefore, if you command and encourage repentance, you will eventually be hated like Jesus.
John 15:20 “If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you too; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours as well.”
The suffering began when the disciples who knew this fact and lived their lives performed their missions in the book of Acts.
Acts 20:24 “I do not count even my life of any value as of any value, in order to finish the course I must run and the mission I received from the Lord Jesus to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
In the midst of this, the gospel began to spread throughout the world.
There are two types of gospel: those who want to pass on biblical faith with the purpose of the pure gospel to God, and so-called reliefism and religiousism, who want to gain their own benefits through the gospel. Until the end of the world, the ideas within these two kinds of churches collide.
The world is always more confused than the pure gospel. Please be careful. The true gospel can be hated like the Lord today, but victory is guaranteed, so I pray that you will follow it well.
