Title: Jesus the Leader
Bible: Luke 3:21-22
In the Bible, there are many leaders and the leaders they show. But there is no such thing as a perfect leader like our Lord Jesus. Therefore, Jesus is showing us the biblical and most ideal leader. Therefore, we can examine what a leader is through today's text that shows Jesus' preparation for ministry.
First: Jesus becomes one with the people
“When all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized” (verse 21), how can we know that? We can know it through the appearance of the Lord being baptized. It is written, “When all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized”. Any leader of the people is one who accepts the shame and faults of the people as his own. How did Moses pray when God was about to annihilate rebellious Israel? Now forgive their sins, or I pray that you take my name out of the book you have written.” Moses risked his life and offered an intercessory prayer for the people. The leader is a man who loves his followers. Love You must identify yourself with them.
Second: Jesus Anointed by the Holy Spirit
“The Holy Spirit descended on him in a bodily form like a dove” (verse 22). (Luke 4:18) “The Holy Spirit has come upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.” Here, the anointing of the Holy Spirit is spoken of as empowering. The fact that leaders are anointed is a consistent principle in both Old and New Testaments. In the Old Testament, representative leaders of the people, kings, prophets, and priests were anointed. It was a ceremony symbolizing that God gave them the ability to carry out their duties because they were called to be leaders of the people.
Third: Jesus Sealed by the Holy Spirit
“A voice came from heaven, saying, You are my beloved Son, with you I am well pleased” (verse 22). As he prayed in the Jordan River, the heavens were opened. The Holy Spirit descended into the open heaven. As a result, he received the power of the Holy Spirit without limit. And at the same time, a voice from heaven was heard. “You are my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased.” John 6:27 refers to this incident as the Son of Man who has been 'sealed by the Holy Spirit'. Because the voice of heaven is an event that confirms who Jesus is. A voice from heaven confirms who our Leader Jesus is and what he is doing.
