Title: Jesus the Light/Job 38:12-24
Content Job 38:12-24
Jesus the Light
Diogenes, an ancient Greek philosopher, is famous for walking the streets in broad daylight with lanterns on. When someone asked why, he wisely replied that he was looking for a truly wise man. Then one day the great Alexander the Great came to him and asked him what he needed now.
Then he crouched down in the tub he had been living in until this point, and asked him not to block the sunlight. He gave a meaningful reply that he valued light more than anything else in the world.
Light is absolutely essential for human survival. But this light is also of utmost importance in explaining the truth. That is why Jesus testified that He was the light.
However, if you look at the text that God directly spoke, what the roles of light are are well expressed.
If so, what are those roles?
##### 1. Illuminates the Dawning
God asked Job a question in verse 12 of the Old Testament.
The light plays the role of illuminating the dawn. It is the dawn that announces the dawn in the continuing darkness of the night.
--The psalmist said, 'My soul waits for the Lord more than a watchman waits for the morning' (130:6). And 'Awake, I will wake up the dawn' (Psalm 108:2).
Christians call the light of Jesus Christ, who shines the dawn in human history. The Lord is our hope. If only the dark times of history continued, no one could be more miserable. But no matter how dark this generation may be, the light of the Lord will surely drive away the darkness and give a bright light.
##### 2. Expose the whole land
Verses 13 and 14 of the text...
As long as the dark night continues, you can't tell even an inch of your nose. However, when the light shines, everything under the heavens is clearly revealed as it is. Even a single speck of the ground is exposed.
This is also true of the mental world. If any person does not open their eyes to the truth, they will have no choice but to stumble in the world as if they were wandering in the night, and eventually fall into the trap of sin, pain, and death. Because his eyes don't really see the world right.
Classmates!
No matter how bright the sun is, if you do not open your eyes, you will still wander in darkness. Therefore, people do not recognize the other side, so fathers and children kill each other, and the tragedy of war is created in history. The fact that Christ truly came into the world means that the dark world has now become bright.
So the reason we are still wandering in the dark is because we have not opened our eyes, not because there is no light in our attention. Therefore, we must not be caught up in darkness while there is light (John 12:35).
##### 3. Build the Evil
Verse 13 of the text...
Here we learn that the light of true truth naturally drives out evil.
It is impossible for a person to drive out darkness in a dark room by any means. Darkness is not something that is driven out just because it is driven out. However, no matter how dark the plan is, if you express your dissatisfaction, the darkness disappears in an instant. In the end, it is only light that dispels darkness.
--In this way, the light of Christ illuminates and builds up the sins of the world.
Jesus says in John 3:20.
We sometimes say, 'How do the blind people live in the world because they are frustrated?' However, you should know that being spiritually blind is a much higher level of misery.
From this point of view, it is indescribable how great a blessing the gospel of Christ is to us. For His light is our dawn, and reveals the whole earth, and builds up every evil. So we must know that we can never leave Christ.
Let's live in gratitude for the grace of Christ who is the light
