Title: Jesus to meet in Lent
Contents
Text: Luke 22:14-23
Next Sunday is Palm Sunday, and the following Sunday is Easter Sunday. It is the season of Lent in the church season.
Lent is the period to commemorate the sufferings of Jesus before Easter, and it is a season to commemorate the sufferings of Jesus that have been continuously observed by the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325 as canon law for 40 days before Easter. The time period of 40 days was determined after Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness.
Early Christianity observed the season of Lent very strictly. During Holy Week, the peak of Lent, no meat was eaten, and only vegetables and eggs were allowed, with only one meal a day and dinner for 40 days. However, it was slightly relaxed in the 9th century, and light meals were allowed in the 13th century. From the 18th century onwards, in the modern era, the compulsory fasting has ceased to exist, and we have a prayer meeting during the training period of godliness and focus on helping our neighbors in need, thinking of the Lord who suffered for me.
So, our church is also going to hold a special early morning prayer for Lent, which is the whole church, even for the next two weeks, if not 40 days. It's not that we want to eat only one meal a day for 40 days, we don't want to have a prayer meeting in the morning and evening for 40 days, we just want to do it for 11 days. It also means to sleep, eat, and pray in the morning. Can you do it?
First, I hope you will meet 'Jesus who came to this earth' and make him Lord.
When 'Lord' is used, a dot is placed over the word 'King' in the Chinese character for 'Lord'. Do you know what that means? It means the king of the world, that is, one who is higher than the king. That is why the author of Matthew describes Jesus as the “King of kings”.
1) There is only one person without sin in this world, Jesus (John 18:38).
Hebrews 4:15 Jesus was in all respects tempted as we are, yet without sin.
1 Peter 2:22 He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.
2) There is only one righteous one, Jesus.
1 Timothy 3:16 Justified by the Spirit
1 John 1:9 He is faithful and just and forgives our sins
3) Jesus is the only one who sees God.
John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, has made him known.
4) There is only one Jesus who died and rose again forever.
Matthew 28:6 The angel said, “He is not here, but is risen, just as he said.”
5) There is only one true God, Jesus.
Phil 2:5-6 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as robbery.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we shall see his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
There is no one in heaven higher than Jesus. He alone is our Lord.
Second, I hope you will meet 'Jesus who was whipped and be healed'.
In Matthew 8:14-15, Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law when she was suffering from a fever.
In Matthew 8:16, he cast out demons and healed all who were sick, so that the words of the prophet Isaiah, “He Himself took our infirmities and carried our diseases.” Let's look at the writings of the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah 53:5 says, “By his wounds we are healed.”
And 1 Peter 2:24 says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness. He healed us who were sick with sickness. I bless you in the name of the Lord that you too will be healed.
Third, I hope you will meet “Jesus who died on the cross” and receive forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews 9:23 “Without shedding of blood there is no remission”
In the Old Testament times, there was atonement with sheep and cattle. And in the New Testament era, we receive atonement through the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb.
Hebrews 13:12 “Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify his people by blood.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus is the only savior. Therefore, the apostle Paul says, “It is only through Jesus Christ that we are saved.”
Fourth, I hope you will have victory by meeting the ‘resurrected Jesus’.
The powers of the world killed Jesus on the cross. He had the power of the world and ordered the soldiers to die. Then he pierced his side with a spear, causing blood to bleed, and confirmed death. Therefore, the Roman soldiers guarded the tomb of Jesus, who was buried in a stone tomb. And two nights passed.
Jesus seemed defeated and destroyed, and it seemed that he would be imprisoned in a tomb for eternity. But the Bible testifies like this after Matthew 28:1. He was resurrected as prophesied that “Jesus rose from the dead at dawn (dawn) when the Sabbath was over and the first day after the Sabbath.” The first day after the Sabbath is 'Sunday', and for Christians, this is 'Sunday', that is, 'the Lord's Day' (the day the Lord was resurrected) - the day the Lord was resurrected and triumphant. Hallelujah!
I pray that you will come to victory through the holy water on Sunday and meet the Lord who suffered and rose for us through early morning prayer. In the text, Jesus also said, “Pray always and stay awake.” In other words, he is “spiritually armed.”
In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that the 2007 Lent season will be a season of blessing in which all the beloved saints meet Jesus, receive Jesus as the Lord, receive healing, receive forgiveness of sins, and live a life of witness.
