Title: Jesus with the Crown of Thorns
Contents
Today, we keep it as Passion Sunday, reminding us of the sufferings of our Lord on the cross. What does Jesus' suffering have to do with me? Jesus was originally equal to God and was the substance of God. He is worshiped and ministered by thousands of angels and has all kingdoms, glory, and authority in one body. This Lord suffered all sorts of contempt and disdain until he was crucified.
I. Jesus was cursed in my place (29)
The crown is a crown. It is worn by those who have won battles and is a symbol of glory. God placed all human curses and suffering on Jesus' head, and Jesus made it a glory.
All kings on this earth wore a golden crown on their heads. It symbolizes power, honor and glory. They placed all curses, pain and suffering upon the people. But Jesus alone bore our sufferings and curses. God's heart must have been indescribably painful when he saw Jesus who sent his son into this world and wore a crown of thorns on his head. Believe that the sinless Lord Himself freed us from the curse by carrying the crown of thorns and the cross as the representative of sinners to save us from deep groaning.
Ⅱ. Jesus' cross heals our wounds (Mal. 4:2).
“For you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with a healing beam, and you will go out and leap like calves out of the stall.”
Jesus came to this world as a righteous sun and died on the cross to heal our wounds. That is why Isaiah 53:5 says, “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and with his wounds we are healed.” Just as the sun gives life to all things, so Christ saves the elect and heals physical and spiritual diseases.
Ⅲ. Jesus' suffering guarantees victory.
Let's have patience and trust that God will make a crown of glory with thorns. We should not only mourn or lament over the thorn, but pray for strength to overcome. If you can't stand the stabbing pain for a while, you'll only get hurt. But if you endure long, you will surely wear the crown of glory and the crown of victory.
Ⅳ. The thorn warns us (1 Timothy 6:10)
“The love of money is the root of all evil, and those who long for it have been deceived, and have erred from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”
Many sorrows become thorns and prick those who seek to lay up treasures in the world away from God. If there is a thorn that pierces the family, society, and nation, whether spiritually or physically, where does it come from? Why is the thorn not removed? This is all because they have turned away from the Lord.
We must find our refuge in Jesus Christ. Whenever tribulation, commonality, and sorrow arise. Look to the Lord wearing the crown of thorns and come under him. Then our Lord will protect you from thorns and heal you. Everyone! Let us all come down on our knees before the cross of the Lord. Let's get down on our knees before the One who died for me through the suffering and death of atonement, and let him live as the Lord of my life. I hope that we will be freed from all curses, all our physical and spiritual wounds will be healed, and we will live a victorious life.
