Title: Jesus! you came as savior

Text: Matthew 1:21-25
Jesus Christ, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born as Immanuel to the end of the world, is the King of kings and the Savior of all mankind. In today's scripture, the words of the One who will save us from the eternal curse, not a dream, not a reality, not a temporary difficulty, are recorded in today's Bible text.
The most important thing in today's message is the name of “Jesus” and the fact that he is the “savior.”
First, looking at the name Jesus, the name Jesus was not the only name.
There are several names of Jesus in the Bible. ① Jesus, who is called Justus in Colossians 4:11, was Paul’s co-worker, ② in the Old Testament, the same name as ‘Joshua’, a name that can be seen in many tribes of Levites. Therefore, Jesus also gave nicknames such as Jesus of Nazareth (hometown), Jesus of the Son of David (genealogy), and Jesus Christ (ministry) to distinguish him from other people with the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is ① the name given by an angel (Matthew 1:21) ② God-given name of the Father (John 17:11) ③ the name that has the authority to forgive sins (Matthew 9:6; 1 John 2:12) ④ demons It is the name of driving out and healing (Mark 16:17-18).
Second, Jesus is the Savior, the King of kings, and the Savior of all mankind.
This means that Jesus is my Savior, your Savior, and the Savior of all of us. Only when Jesus is confessed as our Savior can we become our neighbor's Savior for the second time and then we can evangelize. When we evangelize and confess Jesus Christ as our Savior together, Jesus becomes our Savior and the Savior of all mankind. . Before Jesus is the Savior of the world, he must be confessed as my Savior and not only at the level of being confessed as my Savior, but must be confessed as the Savior of the world to evangelize. We call this missionary work. There is not a single person in the world without sin. That is why God redeems and saves sinners in a truly amazing way. The sinless God Himself became flesh and became flesh and came to this world like a man. We call this Christmas.
The phrase “he appeared in human form” in Philippians 2:6-8 means that the sinless Jesus came as a sinner and took away my sins, your sins, and the sins of all of us, and shed His blood on the cross. We call this the grace of redemption. And Jesus, who died on the cross, rose from the dead, because Jesus is the life-giving Spirit. We call this the resurrection. Therefore, because we believe in Jesus Christ, the Lord of resurrection and the Lord of life, our sins are forgiven, we call God Father, and we have hope in the kingdom of heaven. This is what we call the Gospel. Jesus alone is our everything, our life, and our Savior.
In Acts 4:12, “There is no other name by which we can be saved, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” This is the fact that “Jesus alone is the Savior.” We say this is the truth. This is the gospel.
God said the Savior's birth was so precious,
① Through the prophets, he prophesied for thousands of years,
②God Himself intervened even when He came in human form,
③ He made a sign of a great star in the sky. Even today, great figures are compared to stars.
In Numbers 24:17, “a star comes out of Jacob”, 2 Peter 1:19, Revelation 22:16 I am the root of David and the bright morning star”. ④ He mobilized the angels, and ⑤ He even invited doctors and shepherds to participate. In particular, the Persians prepared gifts when they came to see the king, and those who saw the birth of the baby Jesus as the birth of a king also brought three gifts.
㉠Golden: Giving gold meant that the baby Jesus had the kingship.
㉡Frankincense: Frankincense is a resin from a tree in Arabia.
㉢Myrrh: Myrrh was applied to the corpse with rosin (Exodus 30:23; John 19:39) and was given to death row prisoners to drink as anesthetic (Mark 15:23). It also means that it was offered for the burial of Jesus.
These three gifts mean the King Jesus, the priest Jesus Jesus the Lamb Jesus, and even the meaning of these offerings suggests that Jesus is coming as the Savior of the world.
Dear members of Shepherd Church,
Jesus has given us everything. We, who have been saved by that great grace and love, should also become a Christmas when we give our precious and valuable things to Jesus like the wise men. I wish you a blessed Christmas. Hallelujah! Amen.
