Yulbuk Dawn Job 4 (Job 2:1-10) Job's second test
Job was tested. He stood reverently before God, but Satan could not see it. So, he accused Job with harsh words (Job's godliness is in all that God has allowed), and God gave him permission to test him (with the condition that he should not touch his body).
Even the righteous can fall into trials, and this is Satan's test. Job is attacked by Satan with just such a temptation. In fact, all possessions are lost in one day, and even the most beloved children die at once. However, he confesses that it is God who gives and it is God who takes away, and he rather praises God in the midst of sorrow.
It is a scene where the essence of his devotion to God is revealed. It is truly amazing faith in God. He never lacked the trust that God showed him.
Did Satan give up when he saw Job's amazing godliness? Did you admit your mistakes? Nope. Today's text is that Satan's image appears once again. The reason that he was still able to maintain such a piety was because his body was in good shape. You can really tell what kind of existence Satan is just by looking at the way he changes his words. God is once again letting Satan do what he is doing (of course, this time he also puts conditions on it, that is, do not touch life as much as possible). This means that God trusts Job.
He lost all his possessions and was left with only one body, but he was forced to think that he was doing too much, and Satan's attacks continued. This is the only way to hit your own body. It was said that he had a sore throat from the sole of his foot to the top of his head. This is a very severe skin disease that can even be considered leprosy. If you say that Job is sitting in the ashes and scratching himself with pieces of tile, you can see how painful it is. In today's terms, would it be called severe atopy?
How hard would it be to abandon the people's homes and even go into the countryside? Perhaps more than that, Satan has launched an attack. It was made so that he could not escape from suffering from a disease that did not die. It is only when he does this that he will break the trust of God and will not blame or curse God as he thinks.
The fact that I had to think like this was that even my wife, who was the only family I had with him, showed that he couldn't stand it any longer. That's what verse 9 says. What is the use of keeping your faith in God even though you are harmed? Wouldn't it be better to curse yourself and commit suicide to escape the pain? I wonder if even my wife would have said this to me?
It really makes people wonder about Job's feelings. But indeed, he gives his wife an answer that makes one wonder why God even acknowledged him before Satan. Is it verse 10?
“He said, “Your words are like the words of one of the foolish women. If we have received a blessing from God, will we not receive any disaster?”
It is that God can give blessings to his wife by dismissing them as unbelief (the words of fools who say there is no God), but it is God who can also provide disasters. What a wonderful answer that acknowledges that absolute sovereignty. The previous giver is also God. It can be said that such a confession has a much larger category than the saying that it is God who takes it. Even disasters are all under the sovereignty of God.
So he didn't sin. So he kept that belief. Again, Satan has been completely defeated.
Dear saints, can we imitate this belief? All things good and bad are given by God, so can I say that I am willing to receive them? It's something we can't really comprehend with our heads, but we definitely believe that we should imitate the faith of this Job. Only then can we truly believe in God completely.
We are convinced that this is a test and that we must not lose our trust that God will never forsake me and that one day he will surely save me. For such faith will keep us from Satan, who seeks us in the midst of this world, and will lead us to the grace of eternal life. do you believe
I pray in the name of the Lord that I can have this faith and that I can truly stand with the same faith as Job.
