Title: John 13:29 - The Thinker

Contents

Some thought that Judas was in charge of the money box, so he was telling us to buy something for the feast or to give something to the poor.

Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor.

1. What God is doing

God made us think.

God made some people, the disciples, to think.

The reason that God allowed the disciples to record their thoughts in the Word was because their thoughts were wrong. He showed that no matter how many disciples of Jesus, if they do not think like Jesus, they can reach even thoughts that have nothing to do with God's will. God only gave man the ability to think, but man did not think according to the Word from the Garden of Eden. Eve did just that. Even if Eve was asked a question by the serpent, the most crafty, she would not have distorted her words if she had thought according to what she had already known. He would not have fallen into the trap or snare of the crafty. Because it was not so, he fell on his knees in the serpent's snare, that is, to stumble. This could happen again to the disciples of Jesus, and Judas Iscariot had already fallen into such a trap, so he had the disciples record all their thoughts.

God made me think of Judah.

God made Judah think about being in charge of the money box.

Judas was not able to handle the task well as the one in charge of the money box. Money is the root of all evil. Having a lot of money can certainly be convenient and comfortable, but money can become a root of all kinds of evil anytime, anywhere, and it will grow suddenly, and you never know what evil fruit it will bear. Ten thousand evil refers to all evil in this world. All the evils of man are inevitably related to money. Otherwise, there is no such thing as evil. There is no one who says that I am not interested in money and does nothing but evil. When you dig into the evil one or the person behind the evil, money is always at the root of power. Judas was in charge of the money box without even understanding money, and sometimes even stole money according to his values.

(1) Some thought that Judas was in charge of the money box, so he said to buy things for the feast.

God made us think of Jesus, the Lord of the feast.

Jesus is Lord of all feasts. Moreover, the Lord of the Passover is Jesus. When God recorded the types and shadows of the heavenly things through Moses, He had already recorded Jesus as the Lord of the Passover. But the people living in Jerusalem and their officials did not know Jesus and the words of the prophets that are recited every Sabbath, so they condemned Jesus and made the prophets obey Him. The fact that even the disciples of Jesus did not know what Jesus meant was showing that whenever they think about people, they can come to an erroneous conclusion if they do not think of Jesus first. He did not think of Jesus, the Lord of the feast, so he only thought about what Judas, who was in charge of the money box, had to do during the feast.

God provided abundant supplies for the disciples.

Jesus told his disciples to beware and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. The disciples said to one another that we did not bring any bread. Jesus used five and seven jars as examples and said, “Do you not understand that what I am talking about is not about bread? It was only that he did not realize that he was saying to refrain from the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees. God provided abundant supplies for the disciples through Jesus. You didn't even make your feet tingle. Nevertheless, the reason why the disciples' thoughts remained only on the things of the festival was because they had not yet made the Word, which is the key to their thoughts, as a principle.

(2) Some thought that Judas was in charge of the money box, or that he was told to give something to the poor.

God made the poor always be.

God has always made the poor, then and now. In this world, which was driven out of the Garden of Eden because of disobedience, the gap between the poor and the rich does not close at all. Although every method was used to close the gap between the poor and the rich, the poor have always existed under any system, in any country, in any community. Since God will always have the poor until the end of the world, those who cry for reform or revolution with the intention of getting rid of the poor will always experience failure.

God has given something to the poor, that is, the gospel.

When John heard what Christ had done in prison, he sent his disciples. When he sent his disciples to ask, “Are we the one who is to come or should we wait for someone else?” Jesus said, “The blind see and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. . He also said, "Blessed is anyone who does not stumble because of me." Those who only know how to give to the poor are those who are bound to stumble because of Jesus.

2. The heart of God

You want to think well

God made us think well.

God first gave the Word to people so that everyone could think well. He also made it possible to record in advance that thoughts that do not come from the Word can never always agree with the will of God. The reason Jesus' disciples did not know what the words meant even after hearing the words was because their thoughts were not based on the Word as a principle. If we had thought of the Word as a principle, we would have been able to think of Jesus, the Lord of the feast, when Judas went his own way. He could have known that the gospel should have priority over money or bread for the poor. This is because the poor who received money or bread will inevitably perish even if they die, but the poor who received the gospel can achieve eternal life.

Matthew 26:66 “What do you think?” He answered and said, “He deserves death.”

God made us think of the Word as a principle.

God wanted everyone, whether the high priest or anyone else, to think as a principle in the Word of God. But they have already forsaken the Word of God. Although they valued the traditions of their ancestors, they rejected the Word of God, so they were looking for false evidence to arrest Jesus and kill him. Many false witnesses have come, but they have failed to show the unity that is a common characteristic of falsehood. When Jesus said that he would be seated at the right hand of power as the Son of Man and would see him coming on the clouds of heaven, the high priest tore his clothes and even asked the thoughts of those who were gathered, but their thoughts were like those who did not take the word as a principle, so death is punishable by death. It was surprisingly consistent.

3. Who God is

You are the one who made me think

God is the one who first gave the Word so that people can think well. He is the one who made it possible to know all the will of God even by making the Word a principle.

4. Traces of Jesus (Confession and Sharing)

(1) The blood of Jesus - something I didn't think about

(2) The life of Jesus - what we decided to think about

5. Prayer

Like a disciple, I only thought of the money box

Make me think of the ark of the covenant, not the money box.

I can't think of Jesus, the Lord of the feast

Make me think of Jesus, the Passover Lamb

Failure to preach the gospel to the poor

Make me think of preaching the gospel to the poor

forgive me

Help me to be a thinker according to the principles of the Word
