Title: John 8:50 - My Glory
Contents
I do not seek my glory, but there is one who seeks and judges.
I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge.
1. What God Does
(1) I do not seek my glory, but I seek
God seeks and seeks. Those whom God seeks and seeks are those who live according to His glory. God has created your eternal kingdom. God wants to live forever with His people in His eternal kingdom. Even in this world, he is not the one who seeks and even seeks those who do not seek God's glory and are devoted only to the glory of the world. Even if we seek the glory of the world in this world, if anyone can become a seeker of God's glory in the kingdom of God, there is no need to set an example of seeking God's glory through His Son Jesus.
(2) I do not seek my glory, but there is one who judges.
God's judgment is perfect. God's judgment must be perfect because God is the Creator God. The judgment of the creature is bound to be extremely limited. Among them, the judgment of animals and plants is an extremely limited judgment based on providence and instinct. Even so, the judgment of a man in the image of God has better judgment than that of animals and plants, but even so, human judgment cannot be superior to God's judgment. Still, some people even judge God the Creator. They even judge the world that God the Creator made. Because they lack judgment, they criticize and even judge.
Even in this world full of such judgments, God is waiting for those who seek, seek, and judge only for His glory. The glory of God and the glory of the world cannot but be contrasted. They cannot be together, partner with each other, or agree with each other. If that were the case, Jesus, who was the most powerful in the history of mankind, should have attained the greatest worldly glory, but Jesus never achieved such a glory. Compared to his ability, the result was the wretched man Jesus. Because God had already anticipated this, from the time He sent His Son into this world, He spoke of glory to God in the highest place. On earth, he said, peace among those with whom he is pleased. Those who glorify God, who do not seek their own glory, are those who do not care at all about the glory of the world, even the smallest glory. Of course, it is only God who judges even this.
2. The heart of God
I don't want you to seek my glory like Jesus
God made the example of seeking the Father's glory, not his own, through His Son Jesus, so that His people might imitate Jesus. Anyone who believes in Jesus wants to be someone who does not seek his own glory like Jesus. He wants you to know well that there is both your own glory and the glory of God in this world. Even though he sought his own glory, maximized his ability to follow that glory, and eventually achieved the glory of the world, he wants not to become a person who is against the antinomian who glorifies God. He wants us not to be different on the outside and on the inside. He doesn't want to be a hypocrite. He wants you not to be a ravenous wolf in sheep's clothing. He wants us to worship only with our lips and not with our hearts far from God.
Philippians 4:19 “My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
God is the same. Anyone who believes in Paul's God or God through Jesus believes in the same God. The same God is fair when he does his work. He provides for every need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, just as Paul experienced it. Those who seek the glory of the world or their own glory, but still talk about abundance, are boasting only about the result of abundance, even though it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. He is a person who proclaims the glory of God while boasting of numerous plaques and worldly glory.
3. Who God is
He is the one who makes us not seek my glory like Jesus.
God sets the example of not seeking his own glory through his Son Jesus, so that his people will not seek his own glory like Jesus did.
4. Traces of Jesus (Confession and Sharing)
(1) The blood of Jesus - Contrary to Jesus, he sought only his own glory
(2) The life of Jesus - Like Jesus, we experienced even the abundance of not seeking our own glory
5. Prayer
I've been trying to save my glory
When I achieve even a little bit of my glory
disguised as the glory of God
forgive me
Seek the glory of God, but make me rich
May you be rich in Christ Jesus
Let me experience the filling every day
Make me proud of the abundance of that glory.
