Title: Jonah Defying God/Jonah 4:1-11

Contents

1. Words that begin

No matter how amazing and mystical prayers and gifts are received, no matter how much a member of the church knows God’s Word and

It is impossible to know all of the providence of salvation based on this and that love. Therefore, everyone who believes in God

Following the work of the Holy Spirit, we always pray with a fearful and trembling heart and a gentle and humble heart,

must seek. But, as was and now, like Jonah, he blatantly gave his will more than God's.

There are people who insist on being superstitious.

2. Jonah's Protest

Jonah could not overcome God's force and went to Nineveh, the capital of Assyria, which is a great threat to Israel

They went and shouted that they would be destroyed in 40 days. But the king and all the people who heard it repented.

And because he believed in God, he did not suffer disasters. May God repent and believe in you, fast and cry out

He forgave the Gentiles and changed his will to bring calamity.

Then Jonah, a servant of God, not only hated God's treatment, but even became angry.

Although Jonah was a messenger of God, he did not have the heart to love the Gentiles, who are God's creatures, and also

I didn't even have any respect for him. Jonah is a flag of angry protest instead of thanksgiving and praise to God, which is the essence of prayer.

I gave you

First, when he was in his homeland, he said that he would destroy Nineveh in 40 days, so go and tell him.

will be But now, if you change your mind and do not bring calamity, the prophecy you proclaimed will be wrong,

Therefore, only oneself becomes a false prophet. Not long ago, disobeying God's command and fleeing to Tarshish

Jonah, who prayed thanks and praise to God for saving the dead, 120,000 people who repented and believed in God.

Woe to God who forgives hundreds of thousands of Ninevites, including several children, and does not bring disaster.

How exhausted are you when you are protesting? God has mercy on him and saves him

It's a good thing, but it's a mistake to have mercy on hundreds of thousands of people and save them. In addition,

Jonah, the messenger of God of love, for his honor as a prophet, hundreds of thousands of Ninevites were all destroyed.

How amazing is it that you think you have to do it? Compared to God's generosity and great mercy

You don't know how narrow and merciless the heart of Jonah, the messenger of God, is.

The scribes and Pharisees who slandered the Lord, who were with them to save publicans and sinners, are no different.

There is not. Recently, because of different religions and because they believe in one God but have different skin colors

There are so many things that discriminate, divide, condemn, and fight. and even wage war on religion,

Hundreds of thousands of people have been slaughtered.

We are the masterminds of such terrible events in the name of God, against God's will.

In the field, you can find the same problems you can find in the former Jonah. Jonah is a Gentile

Pride and self-centered self-righteousness as the reason for anger and protest against God, who had mercy on the Ninevites and saved them

Old ways, selfishness, racial superiority, cunning nationalism, and the absolute poetry of doctrine rather than truth.

The second part of the prayer Jonah protested in anger against God was to be sarcastic about God.

All. That is, God is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness,

It is because he knew that he was a God who does not bring wrath, so he had fled to Tarshish in the first place. ha

He said that he thought that it was useless to go to Nineveh at God's command and cry out that he would perish. words

did so, but at least it was certain that he would not destroy Nineveh by whimsy, so the prophecy did not come true.

He thought that it was better to run away than to be attacked by God.

As a result, God forced him to come to Nineveh and only suffered great disgrace.

The third content of the protest prayer is that it is better to die than to live, so take your life.

Let's see, there is no limit and no end to complaining and resentment. Hundreds of thousands of children, including over 120,000 children

I don't know if he was so resentful that he forgave the Nwaites and didn't bring disaster. to self

Even if it causes damage, even if my reputation is tarnished, even if I die alone and hundreds of thousands of people can be saved

Isn't that what you should be doing?

To the extent that Jonah thought that his prophecy was wrong and therefore would be condemned as a false prophet, Jonah

It's God's idea, and it's not really wrong. Jonah's example of God destroying Nineveh, the city of sin.

Because the Ninevites, who heard the word, were saved because they turned from the sin that had no choice but to perish and believed in God.

It cannot be said that Jonah's prophecy was wrong. In fact, the Ninevites did not regard Jonah as a false prophet.

Neira, you will be thankful because you repented and believed and were saved because of his prophecy. Even if I'm wrong, anyway 12

Shouldn't we be more rejoicing that hundreds of thousands of people, including 10,000 children, have escaped disaster and have been saved?

how?

3. God's Answer and Jonah's Perseverance

Instead of punishing Jonah, a loving God asked, "What is your wrath?" you asked

is. These words show Jonah's pride, self-centered way of thinking, selfishness, racial superiority, cunning nationalism, and the truth.

He was pointing out the injustice of the absolute doctrine of nonsense.

But, far from realizing, Jonah did not break his undue insistence that Nineveh should be destroyed. Jonah is

A Nineveh welcoming with the expectation that Sina might again change his mind and destroy Nineveh

He refused to listen, went out of the city, built a tent on the east side, and watched through the cold of the night and the heat of the day.

It's really hard to buy.

4. God using gourd

God decided to give Jonah an object education. It grows to about ten feet tall and is very large.

He covered Jonah with a leafy gourd to block the deadly sunlight. Of course, Jonah Pak Neng

I was happy because it was big. But at dawn the next day, God made the worm chew the gourd,

made you listen. Not only that, but when the sun came up, he made a hot east wind blow. I can't stand it

Naga complained again, "It is better for me to die than to live." God is angry with gourd

When asked if this is worthy, Jonah blasphemously replied, "It is worthy, even to the point of death of my wrath."

is. Then God said, “You have not toiled and you have not cultivated this gourd that was born overnight and then perished.

If you care about your family, how much more in this great city of Nineveh, there are about 120,000 men who cannot distinguish right and left, and there are many livestock.

Now that there is, is it not fitting for me to cherish?” he said.

5. Conclusion

If you follow your own egotism, human conditions, and religious doctrine other than the truth of the gospel, you believe in God.

Even a church member who claims to be a servant of God or a minister who is said to be a messenger of God cannot commit a sin against the will of God.

There is. Please, let us all think, judge, and act according to the Holy Spirit, who understands even the deepest things of God.

We earnestly pray that we will become saints who please God by living a missionary life.
