Title: Joseph's filial piety / Genesis 46:28-34
Contents Joseph's filial piety / Genesis 46:28-34
Dear saints, in today's verse, Jacob's eleventh son, Joseph, who he thought was only dead, is alive and appears as a filial son who relieves his parents in old age and gives glory to them. What would Joseph look like when he appeared as a filial son? I pray that we will become saints who learn and practice filial piety in the era of disappearance of ethics while thinking together.
1. Look at the figure of Joseph who did not lose faith in the midst of suffering.
Joseph was a boy when he was sold to his brother. Then came a conspiracy out of the jealousy of his brothers, and in the end, a terrible thing happened: human trafficking sold into slavery. During his slavery, he realized that God was with him. Since God was with Joseph, everything prospered. God was with Joseph in everything he did, so that abundant fruits were produced, and he became wiser and more understanding than all the slaves. No matter what his circumstances, Joseph did not lose faith in God to be with him, and he feared God and overcame all hardships. There is nothing better for parents than for their children to abide in the faith. If you live a godly life by faith and please God, you will be commended that your parents' hearts are no longer filial to see them live happily and peacefully while serving the church with faith.
2. I see myself keeping my chastity and being faithful to my duties.
Joseph always had the consciousness that he was the son of Jacob, the descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob whom God had called. Joseph was not a man who lived like an unrighteous steward even after entering Potiphar's house and was driven out. He was a clean man with a high degree of integrity, different from these people who like money and go to prison. It was also rationally clean. Even when Potiphar's grades tempted him, he feared God and kept his chastity, and ended up going to jail for an unfair charge. Dear saints, parents will not be able to hide their joy and excitement when they see their children doing this. However, if children live unrighteously and go to jail or commit an affair, their families are destroyed and they are abandoned by society, the children will become disobedient, driving a nail into their parents' hearts. As children, wherever we are, we pray that we will become saints who practice filial piety while our parents are alive while living as novel workers.
3. As a person with a dream, I see myself overcoming reality with all my courage.
The vision belongs to those who embrace it. Without a dream, you perish. The sin of suicide not only means that his life has given up on his dream, but that his dream is his last option. The more you look at the people with true dreams, the more lively and vivid their eyes are. You will see the chi move. Joseph kept the dream he had as a boy and kept it in his heart, so he was able to overcome the dark reality. And as he was victorious and reunited with his separated parents, he wiped the tears from their parents' eyes and relieved their grief.
4. I see a person full of love, forgiveness and humility.
The assaults and traffickings that Joseph suffered from his brothers as a young man were unforgettable. But Joseph not only forgave his brothers, but rather comforted them by interpreting them all in God. This love and forgiveness made my father's heart more and more happy. If this is the filial piety that Joseph performed, we also bless our brothers and sisters by achieving reconciliation in love and forgiveness to please God and become saints who are filial to their parents.
