Title: Journey and Leader

Contents

“Beloved, I urge you, as strangers and passersby, to control the lusts of the flesh, which war against the soul” (verse 11).

The French writer Raveniel put it this way:

'If there were only two words left in the world's language, it would be love and travel.'

There is solitude, there is joy, there is admiration. All those processes make us mature. In order to travel, you need to have the heart to accept what you are. Travel is an encounter. Meet new nature and new pungmul. It also meets the future, past and present of history. And I meet people and I meet God. But travel must also have a subject and a purpose. Because travel without a topic is just a wanderlust. When you travel with a theme and purpose, you can only get the joy and wisdom of travel through the things you meet with an open mind. Our life is like a kind of travel. What kind of traveler are you walking through your life now?

Loved ones want to travel together. I want to get rid of everything in my daily life and spend time alone. He wants to get drunk on the waves while walking on the beach and indulge in the scent of the forest while walking in the forest. Traveling with a loved one is exciting and heartbreaking. When you go on a trip with your loved one, you will be immersed in the joy of travel like a sweet dream. Travel is a word that makes your heart flutter whenever you hear it. Besides, travel with your loved ones. It's more exciting and daunting. Travel is a new challenge and an exploration. It makes us reflect on ourselves, get to know each other better, and broadens our hearts to become vessels of greater love and inclusion.

This time, I got a special vacation and traveled to several Southeast Asian countries with my wife. During the trip, I visited numerous ruins, royal palaces, and historic sites. Most of them were Hindu, Buddhist, Confucian, and Catholic cultures, so I could see traces of idolatry. We saw the historical site of suffering in which the people were sacrificed.

It is truly amazing how and where and how rocks and stones the size of a house were moved from the plains, and how they were moved to build huge temples and royal palaces, and to create artificial lakes. There are leftovers.

When we went to Cambodia, we could see the tombs (killing fields) of the skeletons of many people killed by brutal leaders, and the country's prime minister told us that most of the roads in this country are still unpaved, but on the way to Angkor Wat, the country's prime minister was on our bus. The car was driven on a gravel and muddy dirt road, which made it difficult to turn around for hours.

Here, the guide (guide) tells the child beggar never to give money, and the moment he takes the money out of his wallet, he says that the wallet is no longer his, and if you give it, the child will not go to school and will spend the rest of his life as a beggar. said. Indeed, in this country, I have seen countless child beggars and peddlers asking for a dollar, and I wondered if helping North Korea would be like this, as I regretted not being able to help them.

One day during the trip, the tour schedule was somewhat disrupted due to the guide's oversleep (wake-up call did not ring). Watching the guide's judgment and actions disrupt the travel schedules of more than a dozen travelers, I realized the importance of a leader. In our country too, there is a presidential election in December this year, and we need to choose a leader really well. If we choose the wrong leader, the people will suffer greatly and it will affect the rise and fall of the country.

A leader is a person who sacrifices himself in order to save others, rather than killing others in order to live. He is the one who influences people, not the one who controls them; he is a giver, not a possessor; he is not a manipulator, but an encourager. His eyes are always beating and twinkling, his heart is beating all the time, and his eyes are always looking to the future. He is never tired or frustrated, he is not easily offended or easily put to the test. He doesn't even dwell on the past. Only he has a burning passion to make holy dreams come true. I love everyone and only dream of saving everyone. Not only that, but one who develops the ability to make dreams come true and finally makes those dreams come true. A person who sees what others cannot see, hears what others cannot hear, and feels what others cannot feel. And he is someone who speaks things that others cannot say. Today our society longs for, misses, and waits for such a leader.

Wherever two or three gather, such a leader is needed. Largely it is necessary for the organization of the country, and it is also necessary for the small household. However, the position of the leader does not make the leadership. Leadership comes from vision and character. So leaders are made, not born. Just as a long-prone bird flies high, and a high-flying bird sees afar, a true leader needs long-standing patience and high-flying enthusiasm.

Just as different cooks have different tastes even with the same ingredients, the happiness and unhappiness of a country and its people depend on what kind of leader they are even in the same environment.

Also, when traveling, we stay in large and small hotels. Whether it is a large hotel or a small hotel, we need to sleep for a while and then empty out. In the same way in our lives, whether it is a big house or a small house, we are passersby (tourists) who live for a while and then leave. How many leaders harass and abuse others?

No matter how beautiful the body and great talents are, if the spirit (soul), the guide who leads the body, dies, they live only for perishable things and eventually die in vain.

In particular, what I felt through this trip was that even now, many people do not know God and are suffering from chains of idols, and seeing people who are indulging in alcohol, gambling, drugs, and sex, they feel a sense of duty to preach the gospel to them as soon as possible. I felt it deeply.

* Prayer: Lord, who became my joy, my hope, and my life, let me live under your guidance until the day my life is over. May I live in Your forgiveness until the end of my life. May I live in Your love until the end of my life. Help me to depend on you until the day my life ends. May I live in Your providence until the end of my life. Help me to hope in the Lord until the day my life ends. May I have the joy of accomplishing Your will until the end of my life. When we are sojourners in the world, let us love the things of the world and do not become fools who pursue vain things, but let us live in the image of your holy Lord. Help us to testify of Jesus through our appearance. We pray in the name of Jesus, our leader.
