Title: Judas' portion
Content 25. Judas' Portion
The land of Canaan was not completely conquered, but the distribution of the area was thoroughly carried out. The distribution was distributed to the descendants of the two tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim, the descendants of Joseph who came out earlier, and after distribution to Caleb, now it is distributed to the tribe of Judah. Here are a few things to consider:
1. Judah's Privilege
“Judas, thou shalt be a praise to thy brother… … Judah is a cub of a lion” (Genesis 49:8-9). This is the part about Judah in the blessing of Jacob's will. This shows that Judah is superior to the other tribes, and a king comes to rule over them. Further, this fact culminates even more in “the scepter shall not depart from Judah” (Gen. 49:10).
According to this prophecy, Judah is also unique in the portion of the land of Canaan. Judah occupied the southern part of the land of Canaan. Their borders were (1) Edom at the southernmost point, and (2) the rest of the wilderness of Sin, and their border extended to the city of Egypt (v. This shows that the area occupied by including a vast desert area is not The tribes of Judah each show a connection. The tribes of Benjamin, Simeon, and Dan were allotted near Judah, and Issachar, Zebulun, and the tribes of Naphtali and Asher were allotted near the tribe of Joseph Therefore, the tribes of Joseph and Judah were prepared first, and the land of the other tribes was distributed around them.
God did not allow Jacob's will to remain as he had promised, but to carry out his will. Here we see how seriously God's great grace is exercised.
2. There is a detailed distribution
“These are the borders of the children of Judah, according to their families” (verse 12).
(1) “The border on the east side is Yeomhae” (v. 5), which reminds us of Sodom and Gomorrah.
(2) The boundary of the husband is the Canaan region (verses 2-4).
(3) The northern boundary is the Stone of Reuben of the tribe of Bohan (verse 6).
(4) The western border was at first the Great Sea (v. 12) and later the tribe of Dan occupied a significant part of the area.
This shows that God's special providence was given to the tribe of Judah. This means that in the process of distribution, Judah occupied a place like the central area of all Israel, so it had an advantage over several tribes.
God also gives amazing grace in such things.
