Title: Judas

Bible Characters - Judas

You shall be a praise to your brother, Judah, and your hand shall seize the neck of your enemy, and your father's sons will bow down before you. Judah is a lion cub. He is like a lioness, and who can offend him? The guild will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to him all the people will obey him. He will tie his young on a beautiful vine, and wash his clothes with wine, and wash his garments with wine; his eyes will be red with wine, and his teeth will be white with milk (Genesis 49:8-12).

1. The Appearance of Judah

Judah was the fourth son of Jacob. Judas went straight up to the genealogy of Jesus. It was neither the first nor the second. His entry into the genealogy of the Messiah is a mystery. From a human point of view, the person to be ashamed of is Judas. If you have had an affair with someone else, there is something to talk about. The person who slept with your daughter-in-law is Judas. How did the Messiah come from among his descendants? It's really hard to answer.

What does this mean? The Bible does not show the greatness of man, but the promise of God that does not change even in the face of human error.

Judah had three sons. The first daughter-in-law was Tamar. However, the first (El) and the second (Onan) married Tamar, but they died. The one remaining son should be married to his daughter-in-law, but Judas thought it was because of this woman in his heart, so he did not marry him.

So when Tamar went out to shepherd Judah, she slept with Judah.

Tamar was not a matter of whether she committed adultery or not, but rather a woman who took responsibility for the house. So Judas is telling Tamar that you are more righteous than I am.

The Bible exposes even the weaknesses of human beings, revealing that the Bible is God who worked in poor humans. It shows that God does good in the midst of human error.

Humans have everything they want to hide. It has all the ugliness that can't be revealed even though it sits plausibly. That is the lesson of today's Word.

2. Jacob's prophecy against Judah

If you look at the Old Testament characters, you can see Jesus in them. If you look at Abraham or look at Isaac, you will see Jesus. Even though Jacob could not see him clearly, he saw Jesus and died. Shiloh (peace) is Jesus. Kyu means Jesus as a symbol of power. The Holy Spirit made Jacob come to know Jesus, lifted his eyes of faith, and ended his life.

It's not a matter of knowledge. Scholars who study the Bible interpret many miracles in the Bible as stories or symbols. It is honest. The research of a scholar who sees it with reason is extremely honest. But believing in God is not a matter of reason, but of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

A man meets Jesus and reads the Bible and is moved. His life is filled with difficult life, and he is an ignorant person in a certain way, but he says he has never seen such an interesting book while looking at the Bible. The reason is that the body heats up while reading the Bible. Without the Holy Spirit, there would be no such history.

3. Judas Values Life

When he threw his brother Joseph into the well, it was Judah who tried to save him. Judas also had the humility to see his own fault for the shameful thing of his daughter-in-law. It is important for a person not to sin, but it is more important to realize the sin and to be able to see oneself.
