Title: Just Believe / Mark 5:35-43
Lena Maria is a Swedish-born swimmer and gospel singer. Swimming, which started at the age of three, showed off his outstanding skills and swept the Swedish domestic competition, and he showed off his swimming skills without regret at the Paralympic Games in Seoul. She was born without arms and had only half the length of one leg compared to the other. Her parents did not despair from the moment she was born and raised her with love. Knowing that she is familiar with water, she taught swimming from an early age, and swimming strengthened her naturally weak heart, so she could sing long-breathing songs with a beautiful voice. I started working in a gospel choir called the Masters Voice, and with the help of the King of Sweden, I entered the International Bible School, and I started singing gospel in front of the public, preaching the song of God around the world. A man who was watching her while working next to her proposes to her, and she still lives a beautiful and ordinary life with a wedding ring tied around her neck.
It is a beautiful sight to overcome hardships such as death with faith and testify with praise while traveling around the world.
The story of today's text is that our young daughter, who is only 12 years old, fell ill and died. How would his parents feel when their young daughter fell ill and died? However, it is the story of the daughter of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue, who had already died because of their longing for faith in the Lord, and comes back to life with just one word from Jesus.
1. Priority of pain.
A synagogue leader named Jairus came to Jesus. His wish is to beg for the life of his 12-year-old daughter, who is suffering from an incurable disease. Parents are strange, and when their children get sick, they feel sorry for them as if they had committed a crime. Because of my sins!. That's because I'm wrong! I killed it! That is why our parents are saddened that they are trying to take the place of their children's pain.
Here today too, there is a father who has brought his daughter's pain. Although he was a synagogue leader, his position did nothing to help his daughter's suffering. He runs to Jesus and begs to save our daughter.
Everyone, there are days of indescribable pain in our lives. There are times when we are faced with things that are beyond our control. Times like the valley of the shadow of death may pass us by.
People try not to give up hope until the very end if they hold their breath even a little. But when Jesus heard this, he went to the house of Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue. However, something happened that delayed Jesus' steps along the way. In the middle, it takes more time because of the woman who is ill with hemorrhage. Meanwhile, a man came from Jairus' house. I came to announce the death of my daughter. Now that it is over, there is no need to come with Jesus.
What in the world is more amazing than this? The daughter that Jesus could have had if he had just run without delay, what is more urgent for Jesus now? It's a woman with a hemorrhage. You can go back and fix it, but now my child is dying, right? Jesus how can you do that? It's a frustrating situation.
Our priorities are often set on our own. My inner pain is always greater than the pain of others. That's why it makes us selfish to put things first in our lives.
But Jesus may have different priorities. The limit of our thinking is that the sickness and the dead have different degrees of suffering. But in Jesus, healing the sick and raising the dead have no priority. It is not necessary to pray once to heal the sick, nor to pray hard twice to raise the dead.
Because with Jesus, this is nothing. Therefore, Jesus first resolved the pain of the woman who appeared right before his eyes.
What is the level of our suffering? “I can endure this much on my own! ! Please save me." Isn't it like this?
When a sick person comes to the doctor and complains of the pain, a lot of work is already going on, and only when I can't use my hands anymore, Doctor, save me! There are people who hang on to it.
There are a lot of things that I regret while saying that if I showed it to the doctor at the first sign, it would be cured quickly.
There are things like that in our life of faith. When we call on the Lord, we are praying from the smallest things. I hope that you will not become fools who call on the Lord only after many things go wrong and only after losing everything, but become saints who can call on the Lord even in small difficulties. What does it say! It is proof that I always trust in the Lord.
2. Don't be afraid, just believe.
Jesus had not yet gone, but while Jesus was still there, his daughter died. All wishes are now over. What Jesus does when the child is still alive. If he is already dead, it is over. Do not trouble Jesus any more.(35). This is our limit. The same thing happened when he raised Lazarus. When Lazarus was sick, he called Jesus while he was still alive, but Jesus came after Lazarus died. What do people do after they die? was the expression. We believe that death is the end of everything.
But please remember. For those of us who believe, death is not the end of everything. Death is the beginning. Therefore, it is our faith to have hope rather than despair in the face of death.
Everyone! Please believe in Jesus that curing a cold, curing cancer, or raising the dead are the same thing. Some people have a tendency to think of the Lord as being great even though they have to cure cancer and cure the deadly disease, and nothing cures a cold, but how about you?
Therefore, Jesus' words to Jairus today are, "Do not be afraid, only believe" (36).
This is the belief we should have in the face of problems. "Don't be afraid, just believe" Fear doesn't solve the problem. But faith solves the problem. One foggy day, George Muller was going by boat, but it was unlikely that he would arrive on time, so he prayed there. Then the captain heard his prayer and said, "Can't you see this mist?" In this state, I will never be able to arrive on time. said Then George Muller replied, "I don't see the mist, I see God." Then the thick fog disappeared. Beloved, what are we looking at? Is it a problem! Or are you God? Looking at problems is fear. Seeing God is faith.
Then Jesus took "Peter, James, and John" into the house of Jairus. People ridiculed Jesus when he said, "The child is not dead, but sleeping." Ladies and gentlemen, we must remember that the world can laugh at us when we have faith. However, a person of faith must not change even in the face of any ridicule.
Please do not think that everyone will support our actions of faith. You can laugh. You may be ridiculed. People may call us stupid. However, those of you who have faith will have the ultimate victory.
3. Run Dagum.
Jesus leaves behind everyone's ridicule and enters the place where the child is. Then he took the child's hand and said, "Talidagum" (Girl, I say to you, get up).
What happened? “At once the girl got up and walked, and she was twelve years old.” Then he tells him to give him something to eat.
Hallelujah! This is the amazing work of the Lord.
That's right. For Jesus, there is no problem that cannot be solved. There is nothing impossible for the Lord, even if we have to give up everything because we are pushed to the limit of our thinking. As long as the Lord takes my hand and says, “Run Dagum,” there is no problem that cannot be solved.
As for what the problem is, the problem is that we do not bring it to the Lord even if we have a problem. No matter what kind of suffering such as death, there is nothing that cannot be solved before the Lord.
And also important, it's the ability to solve problems.
People say that it is a miracle that Jesus brought a child back to life, but in the eyes of Jesus, such a miracle is normal. Jesus can do anything, anytime. We are believers in Jesus. So don't be too surprised about miracles. People around the world are surprised, but for us, it can happen. You can pray! It should be like this. A certain monk prayed to God, and God spoke directly to him. I replied, "Yes, I understand." I was shocked to hear that, and died of a heart attack. You never knew that God could really speak!
Ladies and gentlemen, miracles should become commonplace for us. This is a way of life that always walks with the Lord. We believe that if we pray for anything, He will answer our prayers, and we have the power only then.
That is how our lives are separated from the world. Shouldn't it be something different from the world?
It should not be surprising in our church that a person became ill while worshiping at church and the problem is resolved.
It should be something that can happen wherever there is the power of the Lord. The people were amazed, but the Lord was not. Because if the Lord is trying to save lives, if He tries to fix them, no matter how serious the problem is, it doesn't matter.
So, in our church, many such works occur during worship. But it's not noisy. Yes, because it is something you can experience.
dear saints
Today Jairus came to Jesus with his daughter's problems.
that's a good thing In the delay of the Lord, the daughter died, but she had faith. At that time, my daughter survived.
No matter how great a problem may arise in our lives, I hope you have faith and pray. Then, the wonderful works of the Lord working in us will happen in our lives as if they were normal.
The people of the world will be surprised when they say, “Maybe that could happen!” But we are not surprised, but rejoicing and thankful, we can humbly bow before the Lord.
It is the faith that overcomes the world. I bless you to become a saint of this kind of faith.
