Title: Kiss the Son
Content: “Kiss his son, or his wrath will destroy you on the way, for his wrath is severe...” The sin of not loving the son whom he should love is that he perishes on the way. The Bible describes a deep and beautiful relationship with God through the story of kissing.
?? There is a kiss between father and son.
A father had two sons. The second son shared his father's property, squandered it all in a distant country and became a beggar. Seeing his son returning home from hunger, the father runs to him, hugs his neck and kisses him. Father brought out the best clothes, put rings on his hands, put on shoes, and held a calf and held a great feast. A father cannot be so fond of his son who has returned (Luke 15:11-24). A father's kiss to his son is a sign of God's deep love. The returned son does not deserve to be loved. Nevertheless, the father forgives and loves. “Isaac said to his son, “Come near, my son, and kiss me” (Genesis 27:26). The father wants to kiss his son and bless him. I hope that you will receive the “kissed” of God and become saints who live in that love.
?? There's also the traitor's kiss.
One of Jesus' disciples, Judas Iscariot, approached Jesus and kissed him. “How are you, Rabbi?” and kiss them. When Judas kissed Jesus, men with swords and clubs rushed in and caught Jesus (Matthew 26:48-49). He is selling off his master through a kiss as a sign of love and respect. A hypocritical kiss is vulgar. The kiss of the ungrateful is accursed. Jesus is appealing to his conscience, “Do you betray me with a kiss?” (Luke 22:48). Their lips pretend to love Jesus, but they have a sword inside. “…this people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me” (Matthew 15:7-8) “Children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and truth” (1 John 3: 18) Please love with deeds and truth in front of God who sees the heart.
?? There is a kiss from the one who has received grace.
A woman whose many sins have been forgiven is kissing Jesus' feet. A Pharisee invited Jesus to the house. A woman who lived in that town knew that Jesus was in the house and stood by Jesus, wept and wet his feet with her tears, washed her with her hair, kissed her feet, and anointed them with perfume. A kiss on the feet is a token of our appreciation for the Atonement. The Pharisee who invited Jesus was very dissatisfied with what the woman was doing. But Jesus says. “Do you see this woman when I came into your house, and you gave me no water to wash my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and washed her hair with her hair, and you did not kiss me, but you kissed my feet from the moment I came in. And he said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven you, and your faith has saved you; go in peace” (Luke 7:36-50).
There is a difference between knowing indirectly and knowing directly. You cannot know the taste of food that others have tasted only by hearing about it. They say that I will know only when I eat them myself. You can't know the taste unless you've ever kissed it. “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Fear the Lord, you saints, and those who fear him lack nothing” (Psalm 34:8-9). Kiss him and live a blessed life.
