Title "Know Ye" (Acts 4:1-12)
1. Know that healing the lame is a good thing
The apostles did not give silver and gold to the one who begs at the beautiful gate of the temple, having been lame for about 40 years from birth, but in the name of Jesus, they gave healing and salvation. The lame got up, walked and ran, praising God. The problem was that healing the lame started and the apostles were arrested. The apostles declare that it is a good thing that the crippled has been raised and set him free from bodily sickness in the name of Jesus Christ.
Today the church is often misunderstood and despised by the world. Sometimes they treat the existence of the church or the work of salvation as evil. At that time, we must be able to claim the legitimacy of the Church and the Gospel. Therefore, the church should not do anything that is condemned even if it is persecuted by the world. Christ's name must not be defiled because of me.
2. Know that the lame is healed in the name of Jesus Christ
The apostles are emphasizing to know that it was not by the apostles' power that the lame rose, but by the authority and power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Jewish leaders admitted that the cripple had risen, but they refused to deny that it was Jesus Christ who caused him.
Humans admit that they live in a developed society, but refuse to admit that it is through Christ. If there is anything improved or improved in this world, it is living forgetting that there is nothing behind it that is not without Jesus Christ. Also, there are many people who acknowledge that God created the heavens and the earth, but forget that even now, He is in control and operates history. Today, in the name of Jesus Christ, we must not forget that all history is run and our individuals, families, churches, societies and nations are supported, guaranteed, and guided.
3. Know that there is no other name given by which we can be saved but Jesus Christ.
In Jesus, there is no disease that cannot be cured, and there is no problem that cannot be solved. However, the purpose of Jesus' coming into this world is not to solve the desperate sickness and tragic misfortune of man, but to solve the problem of sin that causes it and to provide salvation. Through the parable of the stone rejected by the builders becoming the corner stone, Peter is emphasizing that God will surely accomplish His purpose even through human wickedness and failure. That God has never given us any other name by which we can be saved except Jesus Christ.
I will conclude
Jewish religious leaders claimed to be leaders, but did not know who God was and who Christ was. We seem to know everything, but there are many things that are wrong. You can't master everything, but you should definitely know what you need to know. God, the Creator, is still in charge of history, and we must live a life that glorifies God by knowing and believing rightly that Jesus Christ lives and is with us.
