Title: Knowing God is Prosperous

Knowing God is Prosperous

Deuteronomy 29:1-9

Know that the Lord is our God.

Who I live with as my master determines success and failure in life, heaven and hell. To have faith means to change the owner I was serving. Before we believed in Jesus and took Jesus as our Lord, I was my master. I lived my life on my own terms. People who do not believe in Jesus and do not know spiritually think that they are their masters and live as they please, but in reality, this is not the case. It seems that I have been living my life as my master, but from a spiritual point of view, the devil becomes my master and I live with the devil as my master.

The devil comes to us in various forms. So in other religions, the god they believe in is, after all, a demon. For example, fortune-telling spirits are the gods they worship. People who believe in Buddhism believe that they believe in the Buddha and serve and live the Buddha, but Sakyamuni, called Buddha, is just a person just like us. They only idolize this man named Sakyamuni as a god and serve him. Then, by gilding stone or cement with gold, you make a Buddha image, and worship and serve it. Demons use this Buddha image to deceive people, become their masters, and make them slaves. All idol gods, including Hinduism in India, the emperor god worshiped in Japan, and the numerous miscellaneous gods worshiped at home are all the same demons are using them to deceive people. Even when unbelievers make sacrifices to their dead ancestors during the festival, they are not worshiping the dead ancestors, but worshiping the demons. They live with this demon as their Lord.

Likewise, when Moses preached the book of Deuteronomy, the Canaanites living in the land of Canaan called the idol gods Baal or Asherani as Lord and worshiped these idol gods. In Roman times, the Roman emperor was called Lord.

So, in verse 6 of today's text, Moses cites as examples the great miracles and wonders that God performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, saying, “That you may know that you are the Lord your God.” Simply put, it is to accept only Jehovah God as Lord and to call only God as Lord. We must make the distinction of this master clear. There is only one God who is our master. Other idol gods are not our masters. Neither money nor power is our master.

In today's text, why did Moses speak the text while preaching today? This is because, when they enter the land of Canaan, there is a high possibility that the Canaanites will worship the Baal god Asherah whom they call and serve as Lord. In fact, they entered the land of Canaan and worshiped the true God of Baal, Asherah, as their Lord.

Again, our Lord is only one, Christ our Lord. There is only one Jehovah God we serve. Moses explained the reason, and God performed many miracles and wonders to the people of Israel in order to have this fact inscribed on the tablets of their hearts.

In verse 4, we must have 1) an understanding heart, 2) eyes to see, and 3) ears to hear.

Look at verses 2-3 of the main text. These are the ten plagues to deliver the Israelites from the land of Egypt.

Look at verse 5 of the text. For 40 years from the time the Israelites left Egypt and crossed the Red Sea until today, God guided the Israelites through a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. And even though I hadn't farmed for 40 years, God gave me manna from heaven and gave me quail to feed me, and provided me with spring water from the rock to feed me, and kept my clothes from falling apart and my shoes from getting worn out. The reason God did this was to let the people of Israel know that only Jehovah God is Lord.

Depending on who we live with as the Lord, we are divided into blessings and curses on this earth, and we are divided between heaven and hell when we die. Only God is our Lord. As Joshua declared, me and all of you, I pray that you and my household will serve only Jehovah God as Lord.

God who prospers

Prosperity and misery are opposites. If everything goes wrong, you will lose the taste of life and have no meaning in life, but if you receive the blessing of prosperity, everything will go well, and you will feel the fulfillment of life and live a happy life. Seeing that things are going well, we call it prosperous.

As a result of a survey of office workers, 76.7% of office workers said that they gave up their dreams. A person without a vision has no answer for a certain life. Even if you live with a dream, it is not easy to realize that dream. The Bible says that such a dream that is difficult to come true is [prosperous]. “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord and walks in His ways, for you will eat the work of your hands, and you will be blessed and prosper” (Psalm 128:1-2). He tells us the secret of receiving God's blessings.

If you keep the word and do it, all things will prosper.

“Therefore, keep the word of this covenant, and do it, and all that you do will prosper” (Deuteronomy 29:9). In other words, to prosper means to succeed. King David, who lived a prosperous life throughout his life, in his will to Solomon (1 Kings 2:3) says, “Keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and walk in his ways; Keep it, and whatever you do, wherever you go, you will prosper.”

John Locke, a pioneer of the English Enlightenment, said, “The Bible is one of the greatest blessings God has bestowed upon man. There is nothing lacking in those words.” God's blessing is in that word. If you keep and do the Word, successful works will appear. Just because you go to church doesn't mean you are blessed. You must obey the Word. When we pray in the morning, pay tithing, read the Bible, love God sincerely, and serve God diligently, God opens the door of heaven and blesses us.

“Do you want to live a victorious day? Pray for the temple at dawn and pray for yourself.” Dr. Einstein said that for those who love the church, it creates an environment of overflowing grace and praise.

Dear Sekwang Church members!

The proof that God lives is that the lives of the saints must prosper. You have to have the will to live. We believe that only a church with a prosperous history will become a good church. The God who makes us prosper gives grace to those who keep the word and gives grace to those who love the church.
