Title: Lamb of God/John 1:1,14,29
Who is Jesus? This question is the most important one. This is because the fate of a person depends on the answer to this question. When a person learns who Jesus is, that person's destiny changes. The person's thoughts, feelings, and wills change. When he came to know Jesus, the fate of Dr. Schweitzer changed, the fate of Dr. Jang Ki-ryeo changed, and the fate of Director Cha Bum-geun changed. Just two days ago, a housewife living in Woosung's apartment came to my room with the deacon of our church. I used to go to churches and cathedrals, but Yosai said he doesn't go anywhere. He urged them to believe in Jesus and start their life of faith again. And we prayed together. Then there were tears in his eyes. When we get to know Jesus, when we meet Jesus, our hearts are changed and our lives are changed. From today, I am going to preach about who Jesus is for the next month.
Who is Jesus? Do you know who Jesus is? Have you met Jesus? If some of you still do not know Jesus, I hope you will come to know who Jesus is by listening to the sermon this morning. I hope you will meet Jesus.
1. First, Jesus is God. He is God from the beginning.
“The Word was God” (1). There are many people who know Jesus as one of the four saints. That is wrong knowledge. Jesus is God. "In the beginning was the Word" (1). Jesus is from the beginning. Every being in this world has some time to begin to exist. Confucius, Mencius, Buddha, and Socrates all began to exist at a time. Elder Heung-gyu Ahn began to exist on March 27, 1936. But Jesus never began to exist. Jesus was from the beginning. Jesus is the source of all beings. You are the beginning of all existence. That is why it is said, “Through him all things were made.”
2. Second, Jesus is a man. He is a person who became flesh.
3. The third Jesus is the Lamb of God. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
“Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (29). There are many lambs in the Old Testament. Lambs in the Old Testament are lambs offered as sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins. They would slaughter lambs, burn them, and offer sacrifices.
He is called the “Lamb that takes away the sin of the world.” He did not say that he only takes away the sins of the Jews, but that he is the Lamb that takes away the sins of the world. He is said to be the Lamb that takes away all the sins of all who live in the world. The sins of murder are taken away, the sins of adultery are taken away, the sins of theft are taken away, and the sins of pride and unbelief are taken away. To carry means not only to carry, but also to carry and put away. It means to take it out and get rid of it. It means taking away all the sins of all people. This is difficult to understand and difficult to explain. How can you say that Jesus, the One who took away all our sins, alone? We cannot understand and we cannot explain. It's just believing. It is simply believing because it is God's work. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away all the sins of all men. Do you guys believe so? If you believe, you are blessed.
