Contents Last Counsel/2 Peter 3:14-18
* Last recommendation
The Apostle Peter summarizes all the exhortations and gives final words in 3:14-18.
1. Live while looking forward to the Lord's Second Coming (14)
In “Therefore, beloved, you are looking for these things… ” This is the very word of “new heavens and a new earth” in the verse, which refers to the coming kingdom of God and its glory.
It is an admonition to look forward to this kingdom of God, the second coming of the Lord, and to prepare and wait for the day to meet the Lord, not to dwell on the affairs of this world.
2. Prepare to stand before the Lord without spot or blemish.(14)
1) Be sanctified - live clean and pure, holy and godly.
2) Be blameless.- In words and deads.
3) Prepare to stand up to the Lord without shame.
3. Live in peace (14)
Do not live in the midst of disturbing peace such as anxiety, discord, distrust, and denial, but live a life that gives peace. Be a peace maker
4. Work on these things. (14)
This is what we believers should strive for, and it should not be a life that strives for worldly things or sinful things.
5. Do your best to know Jesus and increase your faith. (18)
To know the grace of Jesus Christ and to know Him is to grow in faith.
Faith comes from hearing the words of Jesus Christ.
6. Beware of the delusions of false teachers (18).
Temptation always comes suddenly from near, not from afar.
7. The Bible should not be unraveled.(17)
Those who ignorantly forcefully read the Bible will perish.
He not only destroys himself, but also destroys all who follow him.
