Title: Live your life happily
Contents
※ Main text: Ecclesiastes 9:2-10
In Ecclesiastes 1:2, the evangelist begins the book of Ecclesiastes with the words, “... vanity, vanity, all things are vanity.” So some claim that Ecclesiastes speaks of the futility of life. But, ironically, the people of Israel read the book of Ecclesiastes on the first day of the first month of the first year. We read this with the determination to live the new year while remembering and revering the God who gave us life and blessed us with unspeakable blessings over the past year. This fact emphasizes that the theme of the book of Ecclesiastes is not the emptiness of life, but the need to live one life worthwhile and meaningfully. “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the troubled days come, before the years draw near when you will say no pleasure” (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Life without God is futile and vain. However, if we remember God the Creator and obey His Word, we can live a happy life. So, today, I would like to share the grace of life by examining the secret to living happily through the text.
First, you should be grateful and happy that you are alive today.
This is the first secret to a happy life. The living have hope (Ecclesiastes 9:4). Today's text explains this fact in detail. The prince of animals is a lion. But a dead lion is worse than a living dog. To be alive is such a precious and grateful thing. Therefore, thank God for giving us a precious life today. Gratitude is what pleases God the most. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). It seems so simple, but there is no truth more important than this. I hope that you will always thank God for giving us life today and live with joy.
Second, we should eat with joy.
Third, to build a happy family.
Verse 9 says, “Live joyfully with your beloved wife all the days of your vain life, all the vain days that God has given you under the sun. The things that most resemble heaven in this world are the home and the church. God has blessed the home and the church. When Jesus becomes the Lord here, it becomes a happy family and church. The superiority and inferiority between each other disappears, there is only love and service. So, the church and home where Jesus is with us are the branch offices of heaven. God loves all of us and has called us to be precious beings that are essential to our families and churches.
Family happiness does not depend on the abundance of wealth. Happiness comes when I respect and love my wife and my husband. My wife, my husband, is the most precious thing in the world. Happiness starts with small things. Those who are happy with the little things can live happily for the rest of their lives. However, it is difficult for those who always seek happiness in big things. May is Family Month. We thank God for giving us life and food, and I hope that we will have a healthy body. And I hope that you will always be happy and happy by serving Jesus as your master, the family God has given you.
