Text: Isaiah 55:6-13
stop thinking and come back
Verse 7 of the text gives the condition to repent and return to the Lord. So the wicked must forsake his ways, and the unrighteous must forsake his thoughts and turn to the Lord. Those who wish to return must first change their minds. The word thought means something like "purpose, intention, calculation, plan." Through this morning's Word, we want to throw away our wrong thoughts and turn to God. I hope in the name of the Lord that we all have a blessed morning, when we turn to the Lord, forsake of the ways of the wicked and unrighteous thoughts.
I. Forsake unrighteous thoughts and turn to the LORD.
II. Forsake low and lowly thoughts and turn to the LORD.
Ⅲ. Return to the high thoughts of God.
Humans In an ethical sense, it is fortunate, and very surprising, that we humans have human-like thoughts. But our God is thinking higher than us. Therefore, verse 9 says, “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” The Apostle Paul declared that life and peace can be obtained only when we cast away the low thoughts of the flesh and have high thoughts of the spirit. There is a promise that God will take responsibility for and protect people if they just throw away the lowly thoughts of the flesh and replace them with the thoughts of God. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, may rest in your hearts and You will keep your thoughts.” I hope that all of our Seongsan family will only return to God's high thoughts, and I bless you in the name of the Lord.
Dear Seongsan Family! This morning, I told you to give up your thoughts and come back. The first is to cast away unrighteous thoughts and turn to the Lord. And to turn away from low, lowly, and humanistic thoughts and turn to the Lord. Finally, it is to return to the high thoughts of God. Hopefully, in the name of the Lord, we bless all of our Seongsan family to cast away unrighteous thoughts and return to Jehovah God.
