Title: Lecture 64 / Psalm 64
Content Holy Father, let us gather together this evening in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and though the church suffers like this in the world, rejoice in the peace that the Father has given in Christ Jesus, and hope more for its glory, and let the will of God be revealed in Christ Jesus from heaven. Thank you for giving me the grace to pray before God so that it may be fulfilled on earth through his body and members as it has been accomplished. May the Holy Spirit of truth work in us so that we do not live according to the visible order, and that we can interpret all things and seek the glory of God in the light of the glory that shines on the face of Jesus, hidden from the world but revealed to us. Please bless our faith even more. You have made your people for your glory. Wherever your people are, wherever they call on your name, you will be with them so that they may live for your glory as members of your body.
Even now, among the Lord's people, there are many people who are suffering from diseases and there are many church members who are going through this kind of tribulation. Holy Father, you have granted us salvation, for which all things work together for good to those who love you. Holy Father, even the power of death cannot hide the works of God's grace that He has bestowed upon us, but rather we can face Your glory face to face. I believe that you will honor your people. Holy Father, help your people to hope for your glory more, and give us more grace so that we can live a precious life that praises God's strength in our weakness and rejoices in His grace every day.
You have conquered the power of death forever in the risen Lord, so that we may rejoice in the joy of this life with the peace of heaven that the world cannot take away. Grant me the grace to become a precious people who can praise and love your suffering people.
The Lord, who was clothed in the body of the Holy Father and sympathized with the afflictions of Your people in His body, is well aware of the sufferings of Your people on earth even now, so I want you to have mercy on them and remember their prayers, and according to the good will of God, they will ask for them. Grant me your mercy so that they can gain more strength through this work, and the church can give thanks and strength for this work together, so that they can focus on the work of witnessing to Your glory.
Holy Father, the country is in turmoil, and the rumors of war and riots do not stop. Indeed, even in this bright age, human beings are not treated as human beings. The Holy Father will rule the hearts of all rulers and give them the fear of the God who is above them, so that they too will become servants of God's grace to rule over all peoples through the fear of God and rule the earth in His just ways. Grant me the grace to be able to do so, and give the church the grace so that it can work harder in faith in the midst of hardship in the world so that it can fulfill the task of serving God's work of salvation in the last days. Indeed, remember all the people who suffer in the world, and take care of their lives.
Holy Father Even this evening a foolish child has stood up to minister to the Lord's people. We have gathered together to long for Your grace, to pray together, and to fear God in each other's faith. Amen.
(Psalm 64:1) Hear my sorrow, O God, and preserve my life from the fear of the enemy. (Psalm 64:2) Hide me, O Lord, from the secret schemes of evildoers and from the tumult of evildoers. (Psalm 64:3) They sharpen their tongues like swords, and point them with harsh words like arrows. (Psalm 64:4) They shoot the perfect from their hiding places, but suddenly they shoot and are not afraid. (Psalm 64:5) They encourage one another for evil purposes, and discuss together secretly laying a snare, and who can see what they say? (Psalm 64:6) They plot iniquity, and say, We have found a way. Deep in your heart and in your heart. (Psalm 64:7) But God will shoot them, and suddenly they will be wounded in the flesh. (Psalm 64:8) For this reason they shall fall, for their tongue is against them; all who see them shake their heads. (Psalm 64:9) All will fear, and will proclaim the works of God, and consider his works. (Psalm 64:10) The righteous will rejoice in the LORD, and take refuge in him, and all the upright in heart will boast.
The title of this psalm is a psalm of David. If you look at the contents, verses 1-6 tell the secret plans of David's enemies and their evil deeds. In verse 7 and below, God's judgment on them and all the righteous will rejoice in them.
When he does that, he can say that God has forsaken him, and because he is a king, he may not have died yet, but he can say that God has forsaken him. Under the circumstances, such a rebellion would have progressed quickly and would have been noisy and tumultuous across the country. Because Israel is a nation governed by the law of God, if a king has committed such an unrighteous sin and sat on the throne, there would be no reason for the people to acknowledge it. So the rebellion would have progressed quickly, and fear would have been so surrounded on all sides. If you understand it in the background, you can understand it better.
(Psalm 64:1) Hear my sorrow, O God, and preserve my life from the fear of the enemy.
Hearing your grieving means answering your grieving prayer. The sorrow explains, Preserve my life from the fear of the enemy. The fear is that the enemy wants to take his life, and he is pleading with God that it is his sorrow. I am pleading for a way of salvation (Psalm 64:2), and hide me from the secret schemes of evildoers and from the noise of evildoers. To hide here, rather than just to hide in a way of war, so far in the psalms, God does not forsake him, but hides him under his wings and hides him in his dwelling place. So, free us from the secret schemes of evildoers and from the noise of sin. They are so trying to take David's life in a secret way and in a noisy way, but God is so asking to keep him from their secret plans and from such a fuss.
3) They sharpen their tongues like swords, and point them with harsh words like arrows (Psalm 64:4) And when they try to shoot the perfect in hiding, they suddenly shoot and are not afraid.
Because David was the only one who lived after having committed another man's wife, the people would not readily accept it under the legal framework at that time, and in that respect, many people would have been able to easily join the rebellion against Absalom. Moreover, if he loses all his strength, weeps and loses, and even has a disease in his body, he will be able to understand the circumstances in which they sharpen their tongues like swords and aim with harsh words like arrows. And here to shoot perfect and not be afraid to shoot suddenly. Not only do they plan, but they have absolutely no fear of making plans come true. But here David is in a state of sin in one way or another when someone says he is morally perfect, so in that sense he is morally perfect.
Here in verse 9 and below, 9) All will fear, proclaim the works of God, and ponder his works. (Psalm 64:10) The righteous will rejoice in the LORD, and take refuge in him, and all the upright in heart will boast. Here the righteous, the upright in heart, such a man rejoices in the LORD and takes refuge in him. Rely on Jehovah and ask for his help. But evildoers are people who rebel against King David, whom God has anointed, and mobilize all plans.
And here, what was their evil expressed in? In verse 5 we see that they encourage one another for evil purposes, the evil purpose here being to harm David's life and to expel the God-anointed king from his place.
(Psalm 64:5) They encourage one another for evil purposes, and discuss together secretly laying a snare, and who can see what they say? (Psalm 64:6) They plot iniquity, and say, We have found a way. Deep in your heart and in your heart. This is their wickedness. Therefore, they intend to harm King David, whom God has anointed, and when they gather, they discuss such matters deeply, and their number is so innumerable that no one dares to know. So they thought we found a trick. Who will see us, saying so. Who knows the secret plan? Like Ahithophel, under Samuel it is said that God had counsel in him. saying so Who can afford such plans? So they are trying to kill King David with all their heart and all their wisdom. Such people are the ones who do evil here. Contrary to that, here we seek God's help, rely on God, rejoice in the Lord, and take refuge in Him. Such a person is a righteous person, and here is a perfect person.
Even in the history of Israel, they have kept the law completely and the remnant of a perfect people. Rather than such a problem, they do not depend on any authority in the world, but on God, and even if they suffer one or another because of the sins of the king and the people, they rely on God. That's what I'm saying, I kept the law completely. I don't approach it from that point of view. So, you should look at the context and limit the contents. In that sense he describes himself as a perfect man.
