Title: Lectures on Romans-7
Contents
Chapter 3 came to an end with the seventh hour of the exposition of Romans.
As I listen to the exposition on Romans, I am reminded of a book I read a long time ago.
You are now retired,
This is the testimony of Elder Han Wan-sang, who served as deputy prime minister during the Kim Dae-jung era.
It was written for a magazine that I remember as Shin Dong-ah,
It happened when Park Chung-hee was imprisoned for opposing the Yushin during the military dictatorship.
I'm in prison and I'm having a dark time,
One day, after a light exercise in the prison, I was going back to the cell.
I met a pastor who had come in first and greeted me warmly.
The pastor was also arrested during the democratization movement.
After the two met by chance on the playground of the prison,
From that day on, whenever it was time to exercise, they said goodbye to each other and endured the harsh times.
But one day, Elder Han Wan-sang suddenly had a thought,
He spends every day with a face full of sorrow, wondering when he will go out,
So one day I asked.
Then the pastor replied,
“I didn’t know it when I was outside, but when I came in, I saw God’s words secretly reading.
It is so sweet and mysterious that I am overflowing with gratitude.”
At that time, it was of course forbidden to bring books into the cell.
Moreover, for political prisoners, the Bible was a forbidden item that could never be read.
Han Wan-sang and Jeong-ro only then said, “Aha~!”
He thought to himself that he should also secretly bring in the Bible and read it.
However, as student protests intensified after that, (probably around 1978)
The chores of thought criminals imprisoned in prison are getting worse and worse, so secretly bringing in the Bible
became impossible. Every day it becomes impossible to read the Bible
gave me something
I went into the cell and secretly opened it,
Surprisingly, it was the New Testament cut in half.
It was a Gideon Bible the size of the palm of your hand.
The pastor tore the New Testament in half to see if the face of an elder could not be seen.
He had the Gospels, and he gave the books of view including Romans to an elder.
An elder who was gladly reading a letter torn in half said,
Reading Romans, "By the grace of God through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus
being justified without cost” (Romans 3:24).
Tears and runny nose and weeping like a child, I testified that I thanked God.
It was the work of the Holy Spirit that took place...
Likewise,
The words of Romans are precious words that show the power of living and working God.
It is full.
Through our pastor's exposition on Romans,
Living and working, without any conditions, only through faith in Jesus Christ
I hope you will experience the amazing love and grace of God who made you righteous.
be happy

Romans 3:19-31
19 And we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may be brought under the judgment of God.
20 Therefore there is no flesh to be justified before him by the works of the law; by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 Now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, as evidenced by the law and the prophets.
22 That is, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, without distinction.
23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
24 You have been justified freely by the grace of God through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.
25 God set this Jesus up as a propitiation through faith through his blood, so that, in the forbearance of God, he might show his righteousness by overcoming the sins he had committed before.
26 At this time, he also showed his righteousness, that he himself was righteous, and that those who believe in Jesus might justify.
27 Where then is there any room for boasting? by what law, not by works, but only by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we acknowledge that it is not by works of the law that a person is justified, but by faith.
29 Is God only the God of the Jews, and not the God of the Gentiles? Truly, he is also the God of the Gentiles.
30 There is only one God who will justify the circumcised through faith and the uncircumcised through faith.
31 Do we then break the law through faith? It cannot be, but rather it establishes the law.
