Special Morning Prayer Materials (11) Look at this person (John 19:1-16)
The true nature of human beings appears more clearly in extreme situations. In times of peace, the truth is often hidden, and when things are going well and things are going well, righteousness is often hidden. Whether it is good, evil, righteous, sinful, love or hate, there are times when it is not clear whether it is chaos, but when you come to an extreme situation, you can see the truth more clearly. Prosperity and success overflowing with glory, praise, wealth, and wrath. At times like these, we cannot know what is right or what is evil. Even a lie enjoys glory, and hypocrisy works like a true good, but when there is calamity, poverty, disease, failure, humiliation, loneliness, and a lot of suffering, all lies disappear and only the truth is clear will appear. I think that its very existence is clearly exposed when it is subjected to extreme hardship.
Jesus originally came to this earth as the Word made flesh, but he was buried as he lived on this earth. As Martin Luther put it, it was buried as the hidden word of God, but when Jesus began to teach, the figure of Jesus was revealed. When Jesus was working, He healed the sick, visited the poor, and took care of each other, the Lord was more clearly revealed, but the decisive Lord and His becoming the Son of God can also be seen in the cross.
The teachings of Jesus without the cross, the miracles of Jesus in the sense that the cross was not considered, there is no problem. That doesn't mean it's great. The problem is that through the cross, his teachings, his abilities, and his instincts are all revealed and reinterpreted in a new meaning. And when you think about it, the fact that Jesus stood before Pilate's court is of great significance.
Read today's text again, read it again, and meditate deeply. Then the front will be bright. You will feel the mystery that only you and I know. The human nature of Jesus, the appearance of Jesus' human existence, is revealed right in front of Pilate. It becomes clear and very clear. I hope you will quietly consider the figure of Jesus standing before Pilate.
Often referred to as the Pilate Court. This has become a synonym. The court of Pilate, the trial that made the righteous sinners in the wrong trial that made the innocent sinners and crucified them, is often referred to historically. Let's look at it as a very extreme symbol typical of a wrong trial.
But Jesus, who stood before Pilate, did not say anything. But there are great words in it. There are words to be heard over and over. Therein lies the sure word to each of you. Now we should be able to hear them.
Today Pilate had no way of recognizing Jesus. How could someone so drunk on the world, intoxicated with power, and thinking only of himself, know Jesus? No matter how you look at it, there is no way to know Jesus. So, in today's text, "Look at this man, look at this man." He is a man who cannot be understood at all.
You're a talented person, but this is why you're standing here like this, incompetent and shabby, without any abilities. On the other hand, Pilate is well aware that Jesus was brought here because of envy and jealousy. I know that there is no sin, and I am well aware that the chief executive and the Pharisees and the scribes took it after they knew that Jesus was elevated because of their conspiracy and their popularity decreased.
Jesus Himself speaks. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains there; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. You do what Jesus has decided, you do what He said, and you do what He taught you to do. You have to think about the deep meaning of this silence.
Pilate now knows that Jesus was innocent. The Bible continues to speak of that today. “Innocent, innocent,” What should I say to Pilate, who knows he is innocent and cannot solve the problem now?
Also, Jesus entrusted his life to God. Just last night you prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. “Not my will, but your will.” The moment I said Amen, everything was finished. After that, it doesn't matter what happens or what happens, who betrays, who spit, or who curses. This is because the work has already been completed in our relationship with God. What a beautiful silence This is silence.
Everyone! Look closely at the silence of God, the silence of Jesus, and the figure of Jesus standing before Pilate. Here is the Lord's love for us. There is a waiting for us. There is forgiveness for us. Today, he speaks to us personally. “I am sharing in your pain and suffering.” There is a mysterious history here. While looking at that resurrection morning, think deeply about the peaceful and quiet silence of the Lord, and this is the path that Christians should follow. We must quietly choose the path through suffering with the Lord. Because it is life. Pray.
Jesus' love in a crown of thorns: Christ never used his supernatural powers for his own comfort. Jesus could have paralyzed the soldier's hand weaving the crown of thorns by raising one eyebrow, but he did not. surprising. But is this the most surprising part of His coming and performing? It is surprising that the one who played marbles with the stars gave up his infinity, but there is something even more surprising. Want to know the coolest part of the incarnation?
The fact that even when his closest friends betrayed him and fled, he remained calm to the end? no. The Lord refused to defend himself, even as he covered all the sins of all men and women sinners after Adam. But that is not the most surprising fact. He remained silent when countless convictions echoed through the courts of heaven, and the Creator of Light was abandoned in the chill of a night full of sinners. But neither is this. After spending three days in the dark tomb, Jesus walked out proudly into the morning light of resurrection with a bright smile and asked the humble Lucifer, “Is that the strongest fist?” But not even that part. These are nice too. unspeakably beautiful But do you want to know what is the best part of Him who forsakes the crown of heaven and wears the crown of thorns? It is the fact that he did it for you. Right for you. - 「The Cross Chosen by Jesus」 / Max Lucado
Jesus came to this earth to die for us. What confession and devotion can I give to the Lord, who have received such great love? What is my confession of faith toward God? Does the confession of faith that “God is my only King” apply to all situations and times?
We realize that we all participated in the cross of the Lord. Help me to bow my head in front of the cross every day and live a life of kneeling and worshiping the Lord, who Himself is the advocate of sinners.
