Title: Let's Believe

let's believe right
(Mark 10:17-22)
One person appears in today's text. The record of this man is recorded in the Synoptic Gospels. He was a young man, a wealthy man with a lot of money, and a high-ranking Jewish official. In a word, he has all the conditions that people would envy.
But this person also has problems and worries. In fact, there is not a single person in this world without problems and worries. Being alive is a worry, a series of problems. The concern this person has now is about eternal life. In a way, I'm really worried about my stomach. Others may think that it is difficult to make a living, but they have high-level concerns, but it is a problem that we have to worry about while living in this world. Because we are not going to live in this world for a thousand or ten thousand years. In the end, this man could not solve his troubles about eternal life and went home with sorrow / Verse 22. He is a very, very, very sad person.
So what's this guy's problem?
1. This man's problem was that he did not know the Lord well / verses 17-18.
In verse 17 of the text, when he asked Jesus, he said that Jesus was called the good teacher. In verse 18, Jesus said, “Jesus is not a good teacher, but it is God who is good.” It is important to know who the Lord is. In Matthew 16, when people in Caesarea Philippi were asked about the Lord, others said that Jesus was John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, and one of the prophets. But Peter confessed in Matthew 16:16, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." The knowledge of the Lord is really important. Because the Lord is directly related to eternal life and salvation. It was because he had a clear knowledge of the Lord that the Apostle Paul did powerful work despite suffering so much. Because I had a clear knowledge of the Lord, I was able to do powerful work without being shaken. A clear and correct knowledge of God enables us to live a powerful Christian life.
2. This man's problem was that he did not know the way of salvation / Verse 17, second half.
In verse 17, the second half of the text, the young man asked the question again, and he was thinking, “What must I do to gain eternal life?” This question of what must be done to be saved is a universal view of salvation held by many people. It is believed that eternal life is obtained through good deeds and asceticism. Martin Luther, the Reformer, also knew that one had to do something like good deeds or asceticism to be saved, but while reading the Bible, when he saw Romans 1:17, “The righteous shall live by faith,” salvation and eternal life are not works, but only works. Realizing the truth that it is faith, he began the Reformation. Anyone who believes and confesses Jesus Christ as their Savior has eternal life and salvation (Romans 10:9-10).
3. This man's problem is that money is the best/vv. 21-22.
Verse 21 says, “Sell all that you have to this rich young man and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.” But in verse 22, the young man went away with sorrow when he heard Jesus' command to give what he had to the poor. Because I knew money was the best. 1 Timothy 6:10 says, “The love of money is the root of all evil, and those who long for it have been deceived, and have erred from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” The biggest enemies of our religious life are money and material things. The temptation for money is fatal. To overcome the temptation of money, God is the owner of all material things, and I must have a clear view of materialism as a steward of God. That is tithing. Tithing is a confession that the Lord is the Lord of things. And we must not use our material things for ourselves, but give alms for the needy / Verse 21. There are treasures in heaven when God-given materials are used for missions and evangelism / Matthew 6:19-20. In our faith, money should come first, not God. Then God will take care of it.
Summary of the Word Dear saints, do you want to receive God's love and blessings and lead a powerful life of faith? Then the knowledge of the Lord must be clear. The Lord is my savior, the way to eternal life is through faith alone, and I hope that you will be a happy Christian by putting God first in your life.
