Title: Let's Circumcise Again Main Text: Joshua 5:1-9
In Western proverbs, there is a saying, 'Straw while the iron is up,' or 'Make hay while the sun shines'. This means don't miss an opportunity. That's right. There are also opportunities in God's work. We should not always think that opportunities await us. Even now, the people of Israel, God made the Jordan River crossing successfully, and now he has provided them with the opportunity to conquer Canaan. The atmosphere right now is the atmosphere in which the neighboring countries of Canaan are afraid of Israel. The people crossed the Jordan River with the miracle of God's help, and their morale is being recharged. Now that I have set foot in the land of Canaan, all that remains is to enjoy the blessings. But now, suddenly, God is telling the Israelites to circumcise themselves. As we know, by performing circumcision, we can put ourselves at risk. Performing circumcision when the enemy is in front of you is no different than committing suicide. But God commands us to practice circumcision. Why did you give this order?
1. It tells us that becoming a child of God is more important than acquiring worldly things.
Joshua 5:4-5 All the Israelites who were present when they left Egypt were circumcised, but they all died in the wilderness. Those who have crossed the Jordan River now are uncircumcised because they were born in the wilderness. Being uncircumcised means that you are not a child of God. So, first of all, you must have the consciousness of becoming a child of God. It is to become a child of God before the blessings of Canaan and the happiness of Canaan. What does circumcision mean? Circumcision means becoming a child of God. In the New Testament era, baptism is What is the meaning of baptism? It means that you have received forgiveness of sins and become God's people. Genesis 17:14 No matter how good you are, if you do not become a child of God, you will end up being nothing but an instrument of destruction.
2. It means to rely on God's power rather than my own.
3. Throw it away and go.
