Title: Control Your Greed
James 1:14-15 ‘14. But each one is tempted, being drawn away and deceived by his own lust. 15. When lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.' - Amen.
If you read this chapter from the beginning, there are two tests.
One is 2. ‘…When you are subjected to various trials…’ (Verse 12)
This test is a test for training in the good will of God, in the realm of trial.
And as a temptation to sin and be punished by being drawn into temptation, translated as temptation of delusion in this chapter 13, 14. Whether for good or for evil, we live our lives, we live in trials, we live our lives as better people and fighting for a successful future.
So in verse 2 it says not if you fall, but just when you fall.
1. The beginning and regulation of sin
Sin originates and is defined in Genesis 3: Original Sin in the Bible.
Sin refers to a lack of or refusal to fear God before the moral or social ethics of the world. There are several words for sin. Among them, the basic meaning of sin is hamaltia (aJmartiva), which means to miss the mark, to break God's law.
After that, all life outside of Christ itself is the so-called old life, all life is sin.
Ephesians 4:22 “Put off the old self, which is corrupt according to the lusts of deceit.”
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked…”
Speaking outside of Christ, even morals and ethics, is sinful because it results in them turning away from God.
Romans 3:4 “… Let all men say that they are lies, but God is true…”
2. We must fight and overcome sin
Religion is everywhere in the world. At the center of it, the rules of sin are slightly different, but generally it is for the purpose of atonement. Satan, who tempts sin, cannot be overcome by human will. We overcome with the power of Jesus... We cannot overcome Satan right away, but we can control Satan's purposes and works. After the second coming of Jesus, Satan goes to hell until the millennial kingdom (Rev 20:).
1) Meditating on the word of the Lord day and night
The way to live again is to listen to and obey the Lord's Word to overcome sin because the original sin also broke the Word and became a crime, and the fall and death came.
Psalm 1:1-2 ‘1. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scoffers;
So it takes time to be cute. Do it regularly, even alone.
Read the Word frequently and deal with books on the study of the Word.
Establish an environment where you can frequently interact with the Word.
2) Longing for and being filled with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit
Prayer should suffice for this.
Galatians 5:17 “For the lust of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit is against the flesh, because the two oppose each other, so that you cannot do what you want.”
Romans 8:13 “If you live according to the flesh, you will surely die; but if you put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit you will live.”
Because of the nature of greed in a fallen life, everyone lives with the possibility of committing a lifelong crime without exception. Therefore, the battle with oneself must be continued, and when you fight and overcome sin before doing anything to receive the blessing, the blessing is supposed to come naturally. The devil survives to the ends of the earth. Because of this, you should hope that you can fight until the day you die and be victorious.
