2009.1.25. Sunday afternoon John 6:47-58
------------------------------------------------------------ ---------- -------------
Tomorrow is New Year's Day We eat rice cake soup and rice cakes on New Year's Day. Rice cake is a must-have food on holidays. Through today's bread, I want to receive spiritual lessons about bread once again.
1. Believers have eternal life.
Acts 16:31 He said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you and your household will be saved.
John 3:16 God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
The incident of five people in John 6 is the story of bread.
I am the bread of life.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word is God, the Word is Jesus, and the Word is the bread of life.
Those who confess and believe in Jesus as Lord must eat the bread of life and live. The Word is the food that leads to the path of life.
2. What did the Old Testament people eat?
Joh 6:49 Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they died.
John 6:38 I did not come down from heaven to do my will
John 6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. The bread I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.
Exodus 16:14 And after the dew had dried, there was something small and round on the face of the wilderness, and something as fine as frost.
Exodus 16:15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they did not know what it was, but said to one another, What is this? And Moses said to them, This is the bread the LORD has given you to eat.
Exodus 16:16 Thus saith the LORD, Gather this according to the provision of each of you: one omer for each person according to your number, each one for those who are in his tent.
Exodus 16:17 So the children of Israel did; and they gathered many things and few.
Exodus 16:18 And in the omer, he who gathered much had no surplus, and he who gathered little did not lack, but each one gathered according to their provisions.
Exodus 16:19 Moses said to them, Let no one leave it until morning.
Exodus 16:20 They did not heed Moses, and some left them until morning, and worms grew and they smelled...
