Sermons for Preaching

Title: Let's Empty ourselves

Contents

He empties himself (Philippians 2:5-8)

Now we are in the season of Lent. Lent is a time to contemplate Jesus. When I'm next to someone who smiles, I smile too. When I'm next to someone who yawns, I yawn too. In brain science, this is called the ‘mirror neuron’ phenomenon. If you keep thinking about Jesus, you will start to resemble Jesus little by little without realizing it. This is the ‘mirror nerve cell phenomenon’.

Jesus' manger is so that we can enjoy a rich life and abundant life as God's children. In this respect, God's mode of existence is very low. Where is God? It can be said that you are in a low place, a low place. In Lao-tzu's Tao sutra, the phrase “sangseon medicinal water” appears. It means “the most good thing is like water.” There is only Jesus who is very good. Jesus is always in the lowest place like water.

The book <Will I Be Useful?>, compiled by Oh-Duk Lee, a children's writer and educator, is a collection of poems he read while teaching elementary school children. In this book, a poem titled <God> is introduced by an elementary school student named Lee Heung-deok, a 4th grader at Daeseo Elementary School in Seongju.

god is business

pick up people

The lowest god, the lowest god, this is the strongest merchant. They carry people for hours a day. How beautiful are the eyes of this little child who sees God as a business. Isn't the figure of the bell in the low place the image of the 'god' in this child's poem? Gentlemen, we are nothing in the sight of God, and we cannot do anything without God. The person who goes down to the bottom like a god, that person is the tallest person and the highest person.

Here is a poem titled <Meju> written by Kyungae Lee, a 6th grade student at Gamjeon Elementary School in Busan.

on the shelf of the country house

Meju ran.

Meju is soy sauce and soybean paste

fungus on the body

Pier is still,

our people

I don't even know how thankful I am

I only see the bad people

It is called Meju.

When I die, Jesus lives in me. If you go down, you can go up. When you are low, God exalts you. You have to let go to get it.
