Title: Let's Evangelize Through Service / Mark 10:45
Our church's motto this year is "Let's evangelize through service." And the goal is 1) to the Lord by serving the family 2) To the Lord by serving our neighbors 3) To the Lord by serving the region. This is to perfect the most lacking parts of our church so that it can become a healthy church. And it is also a matter of obeying what the Lord has commanded us to evangelize. Our commitment and participation are required in this work. We may need to adjust our lives for the Lord.
Last week we shared the vision of our church, shall we share our vision statement? “We restore the church image of the Acts of the Apostles to form a community of large and small groups, establish all believers as ministers as a healthy and prosperous church, fill the needs of our neighbors, and evangelize the region and the world.” Here, the last part, “Meeting the needs of our neighbors and evangelizing the region and the world,” refers to evangelization through kindness evangelism.
Why is it necessary to evangelize through service?
Evangelism through service is the example Jesus set.
What does it mean to imitate the life of Jesus? It is evangelism through our service. Jesus is declaring his mission like this: “For the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Jesus was born in a barn to serve. He lived to serve those who needed him. He provided for the needs of sinners, the sick, the demon-possessed, and the disabled. You have listened to their requests. And he served even to the point of dying on the cross for all of us who were sinners. Although Jesus is the Son of God, he was not served properly. But when Jesus ended his life in service, he became Lord of all. Serving is not for fun. There is a dedication that even gives life. When we do this kind of service, there are amazing fruits of service.
Evangelism through service is the mission of the saints and the church.
If Jesus lived a life of service, the purpose of followers of Jesus and the body of Jesus, the church, is to serve. Who do you serve? Serving unbelievers. And to serve the saints. Matthew 25:31-46 The parable of the sheep and the goats tells us that a person who truly belongs to the kingdom of God must show his love for God by loving others. It is the saved who fills the real needs of others. If you want to be respected by everyone in the church, you will meet the needs of others by serving. Those who serve the saints a lot become elders, deacons or deacons of the church. Don't say I don't need that. Serving is something everyone should do. We must be diligent and always a servant.
Luke 9:24 It is said that if a person or a church focuses on himself in order to maintain his spiritual life and vitality, he will lose it. On the other hand, when he becomes a servant for others, he discovers the abundant life that God intended.
Matthew 5:14-16 “Ye (the church) are the light of the world,” Jesus said. Light gives life, brightens, warms, illuminates to look beautiful. To shine is to practice love, to show kindness, and to do good. We must shine that light on our family and neighbors. Talking kindly to your family sheds light on your family. It is also a light to live in harmony with the family, helping each other and loving each other. Being kind to your neighbours, and sending your money for free, as long as I didn't do anything wrong in the event of a car crash, also shines.
3. The evangelism of service brings glory to God.
Matthew 5:16 “In this way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” Good deeds refers to kindness evangelism that meets people's needs. Evangelism through service is kind evangelism. When we evangelize through service, people's hearts are opened. And open your heart to those you serve. Kind evangelism makes unbelievers glorify God.
Those who experience kindness will never forget it. A love engraved in the heart. I see on TV these days that kind citizens are found, praised and awarded as kind citizens. We will never forget how grateful we are to those who receive kindness. If you do evangelism by serving with kindness when evangelizing, the Holy Spirit works in their hearts to save their souls. Many people want to be loved. When we give love, we make them experience God.
How to evangelize through service?
You can start kindness evangelism in your district, evangelism group, or missionary church. Discuss serving evangelism and open up a heated debate about which methods will work for your neighbors. People's needs vary from region to region, so effects can vary considerably in the same neighborhood. Start acting right away to meet your needs. As soon as you identify the need, you will soon develop your own community-appropriate activity. Go out of the zone once every 4 or 6 weeks. Let's try it at least 4 times a year in a missionary or evangelistic group. When you meet together, have two hours of introductory time, service time, and closing evaluation time for brief explanations.
The church can help with the expenses needed for the activity. It's okay to do it yourself in a group. Serving your family is your own responsibility. Examples of activities to serve our neighbors are as follows.
Public places: distributing coffee, distributing soft drinks, holding items, wiping tea glasses,
Automobile: cleaning car glass at the gas station, refilling washer fluid, measuring tire pressure, dispensing air freshener,
Street: distributing cool drinks (ice drinks), washing cars,
Park: Take instant pictures, give out balloons to the kids, give out snacks, draw pretty pictures on their faces,
University: free photocopying, distributing pens, distributing coffee drinks,
Door-to-door visits: India brooming, kitchen cleaning, window cleaning, light bulb replacement, air freshener distribution, air filter cleaning of air conditioners or air purifiers
Others: Carnations on Mother's Day, food for the sick, coffee at bus stops, tea and drinks at subway stations, pizza on moving day,
This kind of evangelism is not done alone, but with several people. It is good to start together with family members, district members, evangelism meetings, missions, etc. In the future, our clergy will also do kindness evangelism once a month. The Lord also evangelized through service. Let us also evangelize through service. Serving is a mission given to the church and believers. And by doing this, you will glorify God. We hope that we will all prepare for the evangelism of service during January and February and join together when the weather clears. Let us lead to the Lord by serving our neighbors and to the Lord by serving our region.
