Title: Let's Fill Our Hearts/Galatians 6:11~18
Let's fill our hearts / Galatians 6:11-18
“… But I have nothing to boast about except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world... ” (Galatians 6:11-18)
Filling your stomach and filling your chest are two different things. The stomach fills with food, but the chest cannot. Solomon had filled his stomach with the riches and glory of the world, but at the end he confessed, “All things are in vain,” revealing that his heart was not filled. A person cannot be happy unless his heart is filled.
Will it fill the stomach or the chest? Depending on the choice, a religious person and a believer are distinguished. Religious people not only try to swell their boats in a human way, but because that's not enough, they even use religion to swell their boats. Attend worship services and serve to fill the boat. His prayers are all about filling his stomach. “… Our god is the belly” (Philippians 3:18).
The text also contains expressions such as “those who want to take on the likeness of the flesh” (verse 12) and “those who boast in the flesh” (verse 13), and these are the forms of religious people. They boast of themselves with religious practices such as law observance and circumcision, and are satisfied with their satisfaction.
But believers are different. The purpose of the believer is to fill the heart. He praises even when he is hungry. He rejoices that his chest is filled.
At one time Paul was also a religious man. He was a Pharisee and boasted that the law was flawless. But it has changed. I am no longer proud of that. Instead, he wanted to fill his heart with Jesus Christ. “But I have nothing to boast about except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (verse 14). Although he was hungry, his heart was filled with Jesus.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, I will rejoice in the LORD , I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. “Habakkuk was also a man with a heart. I hope you all become like this.
