Let's find the drachma
(Luke 15:8-10)
>
(…) In Luke 15, there are three parables that Jesus told himself. There are parables of a shepherd looking for a lost sheep, a woman looking for a lost drachma, and a father looking for a lost child. These three parables describe the self-love of God, who delights in finding and saving sinners. Among them, I would like to share the grace of today by thinking of the second parable, the parable of the woman seeking the drachma.
① Think about the meaning of drachma.
At the time of marriage, Jews sent a dowry from their husband or in-law's house to the bride's house, and gave the bride 10 drachmas of silver to make them realize how precious their daughters are. Perhaps it is the same token as today's wedding ring. It was a sign of love, fidelity, respect, and obedience to her husband who loved her. Not only that, but it was also a sign of resisting the temptations of other men. Seeing women wearing drachma around their necks or headdresses is a sign that they have a husband, and other men give up their strange minds. Therefore, 10 drachmas are like a guarantee for a woman's identity and life.(…)
② Who is this woman?
The woman in this parable is a spiritual symbol of the church.(…) Therefore, the drachmas given to the church are the various gifts that the Lord has given us as a sign of love.(…) Jesus Christ paid for our sins with His blood. You redeemed me from the middle. When we receive his love by faith and become his bride, we receive various gifts of love. He has given us the gift to glorify us as brides, without any blemishes or wrinkles. The essence of this parable is that the woman has lost her drachma. That is, the church itself has lost the life it has received from the Lord and all the gifts it has received.(…) Here are the sorrows and sufferings in the church in this day and age.(…)
③ You must find the drachma.
(…) The lost drachma does not have to be found, it must be found. The reason is that if 10 are not intact, the remaining 9 drachmas are meaningless. You must find it to recover the evidence of the groom's love and restore the meaning, value, or purpose of a woman's existence. We should really think deeply about whether we have lost the most precious thing. This is an inner loss. If you make a lot of money and lose faith, the biggest loss is failure. If you succeed, but lose your truth and lose your personality, that's not success. What have we lost today?
In order to find what we have lost, we must have the light of the Word. You can find it only when the light of the Lord shines on it. I was sweeping the house and found it. The church must continue to carry out the evangelism and repentance movements with sincerity and meticulousness, just as a person who has lost silver would use it. You have to be diligent to find it. You have to constantly look for it. You must hurry to find what is lost. You have to work hard. We must hurry to find lost faith, lost truth, lost love, and lost gratitude. Gradually, a little more, evangelize, a little more, and then serve… Subsequent times are not guaranteed for me. I hope that you will find the drachma today, rejoice and be grateful. Amen.
