Title: Let's Go Deep - March 5

Contents

On March 1st, 90 members of our church climbed Mt. Surak, covered with white snow. I slipped and fell, but there was a lot of joy. The Young Adult Missionary Team, who had lunch in the snow and had time for entertainment, also worked very hard.

Last March 1st was also the 87th anniversary of the independence of Kimi-yun, but it was also the first day of Lent, thinking about the suffering and death of the Lord on the cross. The next 40 days should be a special time to draw closer to the Lord.(…)

During Lent, focus on the Lord. There will be profound changes in your life. There will be progress in family life. There will be progress in the life of the church. There will be progress in social life. If you focus on the Lord for forty days, please believe that God will give you deep grace.(…) The title of today's sermon is “Let's go into the deep.” Where is the depth?

① Relying on the Word.

(…) I think I should do my best with all of my talents, but there are times when I can’t. I believed in my experience and my talent and started working knowing that it would work out, but that's not the case. This is human woe and frustration. There was once a popular saying, “You can do it”, but you can’t do it. Then the Lord came there. What he says when he comes is, “Go to the deep.”(…)

The word of God is not heard with our ears. The word of God must be heard by faith. The Bible is the word of God, and all the words of the Bible are spoken to me, so we must kneel down in our hearts and listen to them. I can't listen to God's word on my own. We must listen to God's will. It must be heard as a way of life.

② The deepest part is praying.

(…) Prayer is how my soul meets God. The body does not meet, but the spirit meets. Prayer is the meeting of my soul with God. Where prayer begins, faith begins. To begin with faith, you must have prayer. Being good at attendance, living truthfully, or doing community service well is not fundamental Christianity. This is the religious life. A Christian is a person who prays, a person who meets God in the depths. To be a Christian, you must have the history of one-on-one in-depth encounter with God.(…)

The deep is where we strive to get to know Jesus more deeply. We must strive to love Jesus more. We must strive to give more to the Lord. Take a big step forward from where you are standing. Just take one step forward. Open your Bible. Try a morning prayer. Try tithing. I love the Lord and try to say the word of faith. This is what casts a net from the deep.

③ You have to be brave to go to the depths

To catch a bigger fish, a fisherman has to go further and go deeper. You must fight big waves, fight seasickness and cast your nets. Big meat is deep. Great grace is also found in deep faith. (…) If you look at believers, there are people like this. Every time I look at it, I'm reckless and without courage, I spend 10 or 20 years wandering around the water. You have to be brave and go to the deep.(…)

Today is the first Sunday of Lent. It is 40 days to engrave the path of the Lord in your heart. When the Lord said to the disciples, “Go into the depths,” he was telling them to have courage, rely on the Word every day, and live deeply and more seriously. Amen.
