Title [2010] Let's Live by the Holy Spirit
Contents
The text is from Galatians 5:16-26
1 Corinthians 12 is called the gift chapter, chapter 13 is the love chapter, and Hebrews 11 is the faith chapter. I would like to say that Isaiah 53 is the field of suffering and Gal 5 is the chapter of the Holy Spirit. In particular, the text also records about “the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit.” Today's text is very important because important elements of our life of faith such as gifts, love, and faith come from the Holy Spirit. I pray that the Holy Spirit will be present and working while you are listening to the Word. The title of today's sermon is "Let's live by the Holy Spirit". Verse 16 “Walk by the Spirit” Verse 18 “Be led by the Spirit” Verse 25 “Walk by the Spirit” “Walk by the guidance of the Holy Spirit” and “Let us live by the Spirit”. The Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit of God, and He is the Trinity of the Trinity. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, and He sent it as promised, and He wants the saints to receive the Holy Spirit. There is a reason why Jesus wants us believers to receive the Holy Spirit.
First, it can be seen from the title of the Comforter (John 15:26). The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, is the One who has come to testify, defend, and prophesy. So he is another Comforter. He is the Advocate, Counselor, and Lawyer who comes to this world to testify that Jesus is innocent. (John 14:16) Jesus is the Comforter, and the Holy Spirit is another Comforter. Jesus came as our lawyer before God, and the Holy Spirit came before men as Jesus' lawyer. The Holy Spirit is the Counselor who advocates for Jesus, who died like a sinner, though he was innocent. Therefore, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us because he wants us to testify that Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind, and was not a sinner who died on the cross.
Second, it is to guide us into the truth. (John 16:13) The truth is that God is the truth, and the Word of God is the truth. (John 17:17) The truth is Jesus in the flesh.( John 1:14, 14:6) The Holy Spirit who came in the name of Jesus is the truth. (John 14:17, 15:26, 16:23) You must receive the Holy Spirit who is the truth to properly understand the Word of truth and to know Jesus who is the truth. Well trustworthy. Therefore, just before the ascension of the resurrected Lord, the disciples asked in Acts 1:6-8 about the restoration of the nation of Israel (freedom, liberation, independence), which was the biggest issue of the Jewish people at that time. “Is this the time when the kingdom of Israel will be restored?” “It is not for you to know, but you will be my witnesses when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” Jesus is the Spirit of truth, where we know the truth and do not know the truth. you wanted
Third, for us and Immanuel. John 14:16 “I will ask the Father, and he will give him another Comforter, that he may be with you forever.” Immanuel means God with us. To be together means to be with you as a host and host, not as a guest. When I receive the Holy Spirit, from that moment on, my master is the Holy Spirit. Jesus wants to be our master. If you do not long for the Holy Spirit or treat them as guests, you will quench the Holy Spirit. Only when the Holy Spirit becomes our master can we live by the Holy Spirit. To live by the Spirit means to do everything by the Spirit.
(1) It is being led by the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 4:1) Jesus went to the wilderness to pray for three years to prepare for his public ministry. The author of Matthew describes the situation at that time as follows. “Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness”
(2) Pray with the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 6:18) Jude 1:20 “Beloved, build yourselves on your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit” Pray with my heart and my spirit, especially in the Holy Spirit. It is beneficial to pray with us because the Holy Spirit Himself intercedes for us, and the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God (Romans 8:26-27).
(3) Rejoice in the Holy Spirit. (Luke 10:21) There is a record that Jesus also rejoiced in the Holy Spirit when 70 evangelists returned from evangelism diligently. True joy is the joy of rejoicing in the Holy Spirit. Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always, I say again, rejoice” This is the level of rejoicing in the Holy Spirit. What hope, what joy can I have in prison? Nevertheless, the joy of thanksgiving and praise through Jesus is rejoicing in the Holy Spirit.
(4) It is to bless with the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 12:22-32) Jesus brought a man who was blind and speechless with a demon, and when Jesus healed him, how could the Pharisees do such things without the power of Beelzebul, the king of demons? sarcastically. At that time, Jesus said in verse 28 that I cast out demons by the Spirit of God. Verse 31 “Do not blaspheme the Holy Spirit; sins and sins against people are forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not forgiven.” can be.
(5) It is to serve with the Holy Spirit. Philippians 3:3 “Serving with the Spirit of God” If you are happy and do not boast, you will not feel any regret even if you do not acknowledge it. However, if you are annoyed that it is difficult to serve, complain that you do not recognize others, and judge that others do not, this is not service by the Holy Spirit. I bless you for serving in the Holy Spirit.
Lord! Pour out the full anointing of the Holy Spirit! Let me live by the Holy Spirit! May you be led by the Holy Spirit, pray with the Holy Spirit, rejoice with the Holy Spirit, cast out demons with the Holy Spirit, and serve with the Holy Spirit! “I will live by the Holy Spirit all my days”
