Title: Let's live godly / James 1:22-27
Contents Let's live a godly life/James 1:22-27
“… If anyone considers himself religious and does not bridle his tongue and deceives his heart, this man’s religion is in vain. It is unstained by dirt” (James 1:22-27).
All believers seek a godly life. Even non-believers envy godliness. To pursue such a godly life, you must know the basic principles of godliness. First, godliness is a life of putting the Word into practice. True godliness is the concrete practice of God's Word in our lives along with prayer, hymn and worship. Korean church members today are good at listening. But putting into practice what is heard is weak. Applying what you hear to your life and putting it into practice is the basis and power of godliness.
Second, godliness is 'to bridle the tongue'. There are those who have lived a long life of faith who consider themselves to be godly. However, in practice, it is often not recognized. Reverence is not determined by years of faith. Then, what is the easiest and most correct condition for knowing godliness? It can be called a language life. The first step to godliness is to be careful with your words. Don't bridle your tongue to speak in vain. Be careful with words that are not virtuous and sparing your words. We must speak the word of faith. We must control the words of unbelief.
Third, godliness is serving our neighbors in need. True godliness is caring for those in need. So, in the church, social welfare work should be carried out, and personally, we should focus on serving our neighbors in detail. To live a godly life is to suffer with those who are in pain, to weep with those who weep, and to share in the suffering of those who are suffering. Through this life of service, it is possible to live a godly life unstained by the world. Rather, it continues to purify the world, to impress unbelievers, and to receive blessings from those who are touched. Such a life is a life that changes the world, and that is to live a godly life.
I bless you all to live such a godly life.
