Title: Let's Live with a Purpose Main Text: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
1. Why are goals important?
Because the goal is the direction. The direction of life that determines how I should live is the goal. The Apostle Paul also said that he lived with a goal, not just a man who lived. What was the apostle Paul's goal? It was the crown. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
In today's text, he said 'without a direction' and said, 'It seems to be hitting the air.' The goal is to decide where to run to win the prize, and to know what to hit to win. Therefore, the goal is the direction of life. Also, the important thing is that the person who has the goal will have the ability to achieve it. When we set a goal, God also gives us the power to achieve it. One of the reasons why they don't give me power is that I didn't set goals. If you set a goal and pray, God will give you the strength to bear it. The important thing is that people with a goal enjoy doing it. A dream to achieve a goal gives us pleasure. Why are we so tired of doing the Lord's work? That's because it doesn't have a goal.
2. What goals should you set?
First, we must set goals for the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:23 How will I live for a year for the sake of the gospel? What will you do for the gospel? You have to set goals. What will I do for the Lord who is truth? You have to set goals. The Apostle Paul lived his life focusing on the Gospel. Second, you need to set goals for the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24 Athletes set a goal and practice hard to win gold every month. The text also says, “Run in the same way that you may gain.” But in order to win a prize, you must first train. No athlete has ever won an award without training. Third, we must set goals for our spiritual life. 1 Corinthians 9:25 Temperance is important to live a spiritual life. And you should set your goal on incorruptibility. Worship, prayer, evangelism, meditation on the Word, etc.
