Title: Let's Learn the Tears of Jesus. Text: Luke 19:41-44
1. Wept for the people in the city.
2. Wept for peace.
Luke 19:42 What is happening in the city of Jerusalem? Inside the temple, money changers change money, and merchants sell sheep and goats. People are turning the house of prayer into a den of robbers The church lost its shape and became a marketplace. They did not know that it was Jesus who gave the true peace. That is why the text also says, “Now it is hidden from your eyes.” They did not know Jesus, the Prince of Peace, the Way of Peace, and the Lord of Peace. You will soon reject him. will kill him Knowing this, the Lord wept. The Lord sees misery in those who seek peace. The Lord sees destruction in those who seek happiness. So the Lord let go of his neck and looked at the city of Jerusalem, lamenting, “If only you had known the things about peace today,” he shed tears.
3. He wept thinking about the judgment.
Luke 19:43 The phrase “the days come” here refers to the coming of an important day. What day is this important day? It speaks of the Day of Judgment, when Jerusalem for rejecting Jesus will pay the price. There will be a price for not standing upright in the Word, for making false worship to God, for making faith a means of profit, for the church to be unlike a church, and for the saints to pay a price that is not like a saint. Jesus describes three characteristics of the judgment that will come upon Jerusalem. The first means ‘to build up’, the second means ‘to surround’, and the third means ‘to lock up’. This shows how severe and severe the judgment that Jerusalem will face. According to the sources of the Jewish historian Josephus, this prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD by the Roman general Titus in honoring Jerusalem. At that time, Jerusalem was completely destroyed. The Lord wept at this judgment. Saints! We must learn the tears of Jesus. We must weep and pray for our families who do not really know the truth and are heading for the road of destruction.
