Title: Let's Overcome Suffering/Numbers 16:41-48
Let's overcome hardships/Numbers 16:41-48
The next day, all the congregation of the children of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, "You have killed the people of the Lord." As the congregation gathered against Moses and Aaron, they looked at the Tent of Meeting, and a cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord was revealed. When Moses and Aaron came before the tent of meeting, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Depart from this congregation, and I will destroy them in an instant." So the two fell on their faces. Then Moses said to Aaron, "Take the censer, put the fire of the altar in it, and put incense on it, and take it, go quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them." Because the LORD was angry, the plague began. Aaron did as Moses commanded, and took the censer and ran to the congregation, and a plague began among the people. Then he made atonement for the people, and the plague stopped when he stood between the dead and the living.
[substance]
1. We must look to God. (41-42)
A person goes through many hardships in their lifetime. Believers are no exception. What is important is 'what do you look for' during hardship. Because the results are very different. Moses and Aaron faced a crisis with the death of the rebellious Korah and his crew. It was because the congregation, who thought their deaths were due to the two of them, gathered in resentment and beaten them. It is a lesson that even if you do God's work, you can suffer hardships. At this time, the two looked to the tent of meeting, that is, God. At that moment the glory of Jehovah appeared.
2. You must bow down before God. (43-45)
In fact, the people complained about Moses and Aaron because they blamed God for killing 250 people per group of Korah. Even though they had harmed their own lives through their own crimes, they did not repent, but rather blamed themselves. Seeing this injustice, God became angry and wanted to destroy all of the people in an instant. It was a moment of imminent crisis. Moses and Aaron were so desperate that they fell down in front of the tent of meeting. This is to kneel down before God and pray. This prayer saved the people from the crisis and made them live.
3. We must run to the scene of suffering. (46-48)
While praying, Moses knew that a plague had already begun among the people because of God's wrath. Those who inflicted suffering became those who suffered. In an instant, 14,000 people were killed in massacres. It could have been that they had been paid for their sins, but Moses commanded Aaron to light a censer, burn incense, and then run to the scene of suffering of the people. When Aaron made atonement on behalf of the people and tasted the difficulties of death and life, the plague ceased. He saved us from suffering. It is the proclamation of salvation through Jesus.
