Title: Let's Pray
Contents
Judges 6:36-40
Gideon, who was called by God, destroyed the altar of Baal and the Asherah in his house that night, built an altar, and offered burnt offerings to God, risking his life for faith.
Those who have received the call must first eliminate the idolatrous elements around them with bold faith like Gideon. At this time, as the Spirit of God came upon Gideon, the Holy Spirit is with them. (Judges 6:25-32) The prayers of those who are filled with the Holy Spirit show the amazing power that moves the throne of the Lord God of hosts.
Ephesians 6:18 says, “Pray in the Holy Spirit” with all prayers and supplications, but always.
The text is a prayer that Gideon was moved by the Spirit of God, and when the allied Midianite army came to attack Israel, he called up his troops (verses 34, 35) and again asked God for a sign (verses 36-40).
First, we must hold onto the Word and pray (verse 36).
Although Gideon was called by God to become a judge, he was well aware that it was impossible to win the battle with the Midianite army alone with the weak strength of himself and the people.
So first, as the Lord has already said, if you are going to save Israel with my own hands, I held onto the words (verse 936) and prayed.
What has already been said here is Judges 6:12 The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
Judges 6:14 The LORD turned to him and said, "In your strength, go and save Israel from the hand of Midian, have I not sent you? (This is not Gideon's own strength, but the provision of God's power.)
Judges 6:16 I will surely be with you- (Even though Midian's military might is as great as a grasshopper, he will defeat it. If you hold on to the Word and pray like this, it should not be a subjective, family, personal prayer only for yourself. In any case, God must be the host.
You will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you; and if you seek me with all your heart and seek me, you will find me (Jeremiah 29:12-13).
Second, we must pray for assurance (verses 37-39).
Behold, I will put a sheaf of wool on the threshing floor, and when the dew is on the fleece alone, and when the ground dries all around, I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have already said. When the dew was squeezed, the bowl was full of water (verses 37-38).
What Gideon wanted was to prove God's supernatural power in response to God's call, and he wanted to experience something that human power could not do. The living God answered Gideon's request as it was.
He helped Gideon in his weakness, cleared his doubts, and gave him confidence and courage. We, too, must pray earnestly to strengthen our faith. We should pray before earnestness in our work.
Third, we must pray with trust in God. (Matthew 7:7-8)
Gideon said to God again (39-40), “Lord, do not be angry with me, but I will speak only this time. Please, let me try again with the wool. Let only the wool be dry, and let there be dew on all sides.” This night God did just that, and only the wool was dry, and there was dew on all the ground around it (verses 39-40). Gideon asked God for a sign again, which is proof that his faith was still weak.
However, Gideon is determined to believe only in God in this war. Gideon's request to see a sign is for the purpose of obeying God. The fact that this prayer was not in vain was proved by a miraculous answer to his prayer. Also, this prayer is not to test the power and existence of God, but to gain more confidence in the mission received and carry out the mission.
Conclusion Jesus came to this earth to give us life. With love for the life of a child, we should value the lives of others as well as our own, lead their souls and pray continuously. Please hold on to the Word and pray earnestly to win the fierce battle with the flesh and overcome the spiritual battle. Acts 4:29 Now, Lord, lessen their threat, and give your servants boldness to speak the word of God.
