Let's wash each other's feet
John 13:4-7
Indian father Gandhi went on a business trip one day. The train was late because I left home a little late. In a rush, one of his shoes came off and fell on the platform.
The train left and I couldn't get off and pick it up.
Then Gandhi quickly took off the other pair of shoes and dropped it next to him. Those who accompanied him could not help but marvel at Gandhi's actions.
No, what did you drop your shoes for? ' Gandhi said with a smile when asked with a surprised face.
Imagine a poor man picking up a pair of shoes that fell on the floor. A pair of shoes will be of no use. But now that you can have the other pair, how would you like it?
I answered. Gandhi's life towards others in everything he did made him a great leader respected by all people.
But there is a great leader of those who serve more than this. He is the Lord Jesus Christ, the light of all mankind. No one in this world, no matter how great, can be a greater and better example of a leader than Jesus. The Lord exemplifies life in this world. The greatest example of an example was washing the feet of his beloved disciples himself. The disciple was supposed to wash the teacher's feet, but Jesus, the teacher, washed his feet. The lowly should wash the high, but Almighty God washed the disciples' feet.
This is so different from the world's rules. In the world, the higher you are, the more you are treated and served, but the Lord lived a life of serving others. He lived his life serving the lowly, the sick, the poor, publicans and prostitutes. Many people want to be treated, but the Lord, the King of kings, has set the example of serving others. There are many people who want to dress up splendidly for their own glory, even at the expense of others. But the Lord poured out your sweat for us with your blood and sacrificed your life for us.
In Amsterdam, the Netherlands, a replica of the Crown of Thorns worn by Jesus is displayed in a museum. The kings of the world wear shining crowns and perform glorious coronations, but the Lord wears the crown of thorns on the last cross. He wore a crown of thorns of unbearable pain. But how many people today enjoy freedom and peace under this crown of thorns?
If the Lord had intended to wear a crown, he could have worn something more, much more, and more precious than this. But the life of the Lord was not like that. The Lord was born in a stable and grew up helping his father, a carpenter, work in a poor family in a poor village called Nazareth. And for the last three years, he lived serving the weak, the sick, the naked, the poor, the poor, and the sinful and outcast. He healed the sick, gave bread to the hungry and lived with them. However, the Lord lived a more satisfying life than anyone else, lived a happy life, and lived a happy life. That is why billions of people in the world today are bowing down under this crown of thorns that the Lord used to receive grace and comfort.
I would like to receive the Word this morning in two ways.
Who will you imitate? How do you practice what you do and how to imitate it? This is the part of the saying.
一. Who will you imitate?
Ladies and gentlemen, if we are going to live a good life of faith, we must meet people to imitate well. that will be a blessing. We believe that we should imitate Jesus. The Lord set an example of sacrifice, humility, and love. Jesus washed away our spiritual sins.
Feet are dirty and smelly. So you need to wash it every day. People who haven't washed their feet don't know the smell of their feet. But those who wash and clean their feet know how bad they smell. Jesus washed his feet. He also told them to wash each other's feet.
The Lord washes our feet. Therefore, when you come to church, He cleans the dirty parts of your life for a week. Sins committed with the mouth, sins committed with the heart, and sins committed without knowing it before God are the smell of the feet. May you be washed before Jesus.
Don't put off the filthy smell and come out before the Lord to be washed. Christianity is a washing religion. There are many people who want to be washed clean and live the life of the Lord. We need to find someone like that.
We are challenged only when we meet someone who imitates the life of Jesus in the Bible and lives that way with the naked eye.
Why do we respect Lincoln? He risked his political life for the emancipation of slaves. His life was a life of sacrifice for others, and he was revered as a great man in history.
Why do you respect Dr. Schweitzer? He had five PhDs, but he was respected because he went to Africa and followed Christ's example. According to scholars, those who serve others live longer. During the 500 years of the Joseon Dynasty, the average life expectancy of each king was about 30 years.
Those who live for their own glory do not live long.
Dear saints, those who serve are happy, and those who serve have a long life. A life of service is precious.
Why do church members live longer than powerful people, more powerful people, than chaebols? The life of the saints is a life of serving others. It is a life of service.
I believe that the saints will live a long life because they sacrifice for others and love their neighbors.
The unhappiness in this day and age is that there is no service, sacrifice, and humility to hope that only I will be well and that I will be happy no matter what others do.
That's why this society is bloody and our lives are fearful, insecure, joyless, and worthless.
Life doesn't matter how long you live, it matters how long you live for others. It doesn't matter where we are, it's how we serve others that matters.
二. How will you imitate and live?
Looking at the ruins of India, Egypt, China, and Iraq, the birthplaces of the world's four major civilizations, there are commonalities. It is a culture that has made a lot of sacrifices for one person. In ancient Egypt, it is said that from that day upon becoming a king, hundreds of thousands of people were mobilized to build his own tomb.
I don't know how many people struggled with a wall over something that was nothing.
But in a prosperous country like America today, the tombs of Lincoln and Kennedy are no different from the graves of others. Never make others cry, sweat, or sacrifice for yourself. Rather, it shows a life of pleasing and serving others with the status and power given to them. So today, we come to realize that the country is prosperous and that it is a country where blessings and individual lives are respected.
Brothers and sisters, let's live in imitation of the Lord. I pray for the life of holy saints who rejoice as they sit down and wash their feet.
It's an old story. Park Yun-won lived in Sasa-ri, Dongnae-myeon, Chuncheon-gun. This person was the head of the department. As a head of the department, he worked hard and led a good life of faith.
This person became the head of the town and organized a youth group in Myeon-myeon. Every month, he brought 100 pups to each monthly meeting, sold them to buy school supplies, and gave convenience to his parents. Also, after the portrait was released, we consulted with each mayor to simplify the funeral so that life is not burdensome, and we did our best to make the town a prosperous town.
By doing this, he was praised by the locals. Not only that, but he also set an example for his religious life, and he not only did not miss out on any kind of worship despite his busy schedule, he also took the lead in church work.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “Be ye imitators of me as I imitate Christ. Also in Romans 12:1, I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God, for this is your spiritual worship.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Those who serve are those who live the life of God. No matter how many words you say with your mouth, it is not as good as putting them into action.
. Our voluntary service and service will convey God's love.
Conclusion Dear Saints
Washing your feet is not an easy task. It is only possible for us to be loved by someone whose feet are washed. We need to wash our feet. Who will wash our dirty feet? There is only Jesus Christ. He alone washed our feet.
He washed the feet of filthy sins. Let us imitate him and wash one another's feet.
let's serve let's serve let's not fight I bless you in the name of the Lord that you live in a world that is lacking even if you love and live with love and gratitude.
