Title: Let me have a double or two
Bible: 2 Kings 2:1-14
Starting Point of the Word>>
This time, we would like to share the sermon with the title of “Let me have double or so” through the words of the text.
In today's text, the words of Elisha who followed Elijah are recorded.
The disciple Elisha, a disciple of Elijah who had fought and won the spiritual battle with the Baal believers as a prophet of Israel in the days of King Ahab, and when God wanted to lead him today, the last thing he asked Elijah was, “The inspiration is double the power of Elijah. ” is recorded.
Elijah wanted to inspire Elisha twice because of his faith and love for God, and God gave Elisha twice as much grace than Elijah.
Today, as Elijah shares the attitude of faith that Elijah asks of Elisha to inspire him twice as much, I ask in the name of the Lord that it will be a time for us to have the fullness of God-inspired faith just like Elisha.
Go to Word>>
Then, let's take a look at what Elijah looks like to give Elisha double the inspiration through the text.
First, we can see Elijah testing Elisha.
If we look at the words of verses 2-6,
As Elijah was going from Gilgal to Bethel when God was taking him, Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here.”
But Elisha vowed to follow Elijah to the end, saying, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.”
After that, he repeated the same words every time he moved from Bethel to Jericho and from Jericho to Jordan. As a result, Elisha had twice as much inspiration as Elijah.
There is a saying “Rite of Passage”.
In order for students to go to college, they can only go through elementary school, middle school, and high school.
In addition, there is a process of becoming an adult through Coming of Age Day in the process of going from student status to coming of age.
There is a process for believers to receive God's grace and power.
Today, Elijah tried to separate Elisha three times in order to give him power.
When Elisha saw the faith that he longed to follow in the course of these three trials, he gave him the amazing power and inspiration to do even greater things.
Sometimes God tests us and then uses us and gives us blessings.
If you look at the appearance of the many ancestors of faith recorded in the Bible, no one did God's work without testing.
Also, those who failed the test could not do God's work.
Even today, no matter what difficulties and trials we face, we must never become saints who turn away from God and His Word.
You can experience the grace of God only when you become believers who stand on the Word and have sincere faith and faith in Jesus Christ to overcome all trials and tribulations.
In John 10, Jesus is said to be our Good Shepherd.
The Good Shepherd said that He came to give life to the sheep and to give them better things.
In the name of the Lord, I ask that you become believers who believe and follow that He is leading our way, and that it may be difficult and difficult at times, but He is preparing good things by always protecting us.
Second, Elijah told Elisha to “ask”.
If we look at the words of verse 9,
“Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I will do to you before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Let the work of your Spirit be on me twice.”
Elijah said to Elisha, who followed without giving up from Gilgal through Beel and Jericho to the Jordan, “Ask what I should do with you before I am taken away from you.”
Now, both Elijah and Elisha know that God will lead Elijah.
Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask.”
God tells us to ask what He will do for us today.
In Jeremiah 33:3,
“Call to me, and I will answer you, and I will show you great and mighty things that you do not know.”
you said
However, as there are few answers to our prayers, we are tempted and sometimes we see that we do not trust God.
But what we need to realize is that our unresponsiveness is not God's problem, it's our own problem.
Looking at the words of James 4:2-3,
“You do not have because you do not ask, and you ask and do not receive because you ask erroneously, to spend it on your lusts.”
did it.
Therefore, we must become believers who pray to God.
Above all, our prayers should be prayers of faith.
First: we must pray in faith,
And, as we said at the Friday prayer meeting, we must pray for seeking, seeking, and knocking.
In a word, the prayer of faith that does not give up is what we need.
And pray, but with the mindset that it is the last time.
This means that prayers should be offered with urgency and earnestness.
Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I will do with you before I am taken from you.”
This message is to ask before the opportunity passes quickly.
Likewise, when we pray to God, if we do not receive an answer at this moment, we must pray with the feeling that there is no opportunity again.
Today, I ask in the name of the Lord that we will become all the saints who receive double the inspiration by asking God.
Third, it is said that all these requests will be fulfilled “when you see” Elijah ascended into heaven.
If we look at verse 10,
“He said, “You ask for a difficult thing, but when you see me taken away from you, it will be done for you, but otherwise it will not be.”
I did.
Elijah hears Elisha's plea and speaks.
“You are asking for difficult things.”
But Elijah sees that he is sure that Elisha's prayer will come true.
Now, Elijah is a prophet who believed and followed the word of God and exercised that power.
It is only natural for him to have confidence that God will hear Elijah's prayer.
Therefore, even for Elisha, who is offering such a difficult and difficult subject of prayer, do not worry even if you follow God's guidance, and have expectations and confidence in what will be answered.
There is a Korean saying, “Even if the sky falls, there is a hole through which it will rise.”
This means that even if the sky falls, there is a way to survive if you put your mind to it.
Now Elijah said that he knew that God would take him.
However, it means that if Elisha does not come to his senses in this situation, he will not be able to achieve anything.
If you look at Romans 13:11,
“And ye know the hour, that the hour has already come to awake from sleep.”
Says.
We must remember that now is the time to be awake and look to the work of God.
And another precious meaning of today's word is to look only to Jesus.
Just as Elisha looked at Elijah being carried away by the whirlwind to get double inspiration, so we too must become saints who look only at Jesus, who is our life, to receive the power and blessing of Jesus.
People's lives depend on what they see.
Because what you see governs your mind and thoughts.
Therefore, as in Hebrews 12:2, we must become saints who look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
When we look to Jesus like these words, we become people who take on the image of Jesus.
At the end of the speech>>
Organize your words.
Today Elisha wished Elijah a double inspiration.
And if you look at his life, you can see that he showed twice as much ability as his teacher Elijah.
We must become saints who receive God's grace like this, but for this purpose, in today's text, we must become saints who overcome temptation, pray to God, and become saints who look to Jesus who bore the cross for us saying that
At this time today, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will be the saints who long for the double grace like Elisha, and that those wishes will come true.
