Title: Lies and Truth
2010.5.16 Sunday morning service sermon
Bible: 1 John 2:4-6
Title: Lies and Truths
1 John 2:4-6 ‘4. He who says I know him and does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5. Whosoever keeps his word, in him the love of God is indeed perfected, and by this we know that we are in him. 6. Whoever says that he abides in him must also do as he does.' Amen.
Misunderstanding your beliefs can make you worse than an unbeliever. He even said that if you borrow Paul's words, you will become even more pitiful (1 Corinthians 15:19).
The wisdom that man has is that he cannot know God the Creator by himself. In fact, all of man's character, knowledge, and even his conscience have returned to nothingness. Romans 3:4 says, "... All men are lies, but God is true...".
This means that both Confucius and Shakyamuni ended up only telling lies. Seongcheol's confession that he told me a lot of lies must have been his sincere conscience.
Romans 3:10-12 ‘10. As it is written, There is none righteous, not even one; 11. There is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God; 12. All have turned aside, and one thing has become useless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
We will listen to the sermon titled <Lies and Truths> in order to confirm the definition of lies and truth in the Bible and to have right faith.
1. The beginning of a lie is the devil
First, where did lies begin? Lies in the Bible did not come from the mouths of men created by the true God, but were taught by the devil.
Joh 8:44 “You are of your father the devil... and you do not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Adam, the man of the beginning, was commanded not to eat the fruit in the middle of the garden, which God commanded, that if he eats it he would die (Genesis 2:17), but he fell into the trap of the devil (Genesis 3:). The world, whether old or now, is ultimately controlled by the devil (Revelation 12:9).
Ephesians 2:2 "...after the customs of this world, after the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience."
When this global blackmail world finally comes to an end
1 Timothy 4:1 “But the Holy Spirit plainly says that in the latter days some will turn from the faith and follow deceitful spirits and teachings of demons.”
The way the devil leads the world into lies is extremely rational. So, Col 2:8, “Beware lest anyone spoil you with philosophy and vain deceit, according to the traditions of men and according to the elementary learnings of the world, and not according to Christ.”
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.”
Proverbs 31:30 “Fairness is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is praised.
2. Judging lies with the Bible
The church is always in trouble because of the heretical idea that God's direct revelation was received mainly through dreams and visions. The Bible warns that heresies will rise in the last days and the church will fall.
2 Corinthians 11:4 “If anyone goes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit from which you did not receive, or a different gospel from which you did not receive, you tolerate it well.”
Galatians 1:7 “There is no other gospel, except that some are disturbing you and trying to change the gospel of Christ.”
People in the world and church members say that they know God, but those who do not live according to God's will do not have the truth in them.
1 John 2:4 “He who says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
When we receive the Holy Spirit, we do not deviate from the truth of the Bible.
It is because 1 John 5:7 said, ‘..the Holy Spirit is truth’.
John 15:26 “...when the Spirit of truth comes, he will testify of me.”
John 16:13 “...when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
In the Old Testament era, when the southern kingdom of Judah was falling, the weeping prophet Jeremiah cried out to King Zedekiah the revelation of God to make him subordinate to Babylon and find a way to live (Son of the priest, Josiah 13, 627 BC - Jerusalem fell by Babylon 587 BC).
But the people did not listen, and false prophets rose up
Jeremiah 14:14 "Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets prophesy falsely in my name. I have not sent them, nor have I commanded them or spoken to them, but they prophesy to you by false revelations and divination and futility and deceit of their own hearts."
Ezekiel 13:9 “These prophets saw false visions and foretold lies.”
Jude 1:8 “These dreamers…”
1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
It is said that even false prophets have power. You can make a name for yourself as a pastor, but on the day of judgment, everyone will be judged by the standard of the Word (Matthew 7:23). There are strange revelations in the world, and sometimes even fortune tellers seem to do, but where there is no truth there will be judgment.
3. Walking with the Lord is living according to the Bible
The Christian faith should not be interpreted as an emotion. No matter what your heart is, you need to align your thoughts with the truth of God's Bible and introduce the truth into your life.
Text 1 John 2:5-6 ‘5. Whoever keeps his word, indeed, the love of God is perfected in him, and by this we know that we are in him. 6. He who says that he abides in him, as he does, he must also do.”
The word to perfect, teleiovw, means to complete, and it means to confirm your faith by living with God. In verse 6, the word “abide in it” means to continue abiding.
To believe in Jesus or to believe in God does not mean that you have Christian religious knowledge, but that the truth of the word of revelation is moral, active, and empirically demonstrated in your life.
Lies are all philosophies and sayings that come from human nature. Therefore, it is explicitly stated in the Ten Commandments not to lie (Ex 20:2-17), and the New Testament tells us to truly love God and man, saying that love must not be false (Matthew 22:37-40; Romans 12:9, 13:8-10; Galatians 5:14).
God said in Psalm 5:6, "Those who lie are destroyed..."
Colossians 3:9 says, “You shall not lie to one another; put off the old man and his ways.” It means to get rid of the worldly temperament that lies in moderation. Ephesians 4:25 “Therefore, putting away falsehood, let each one speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.”
A lot of people say they love without love inside, so because there is no truth inside, the devil's lies are increasing, and even among the saints, they commit sins through blackmail and threats, but do not repent.
It is said that if you are controlled by the devil, you are a slave to sin, so you must cast away lies and live truthfully. The way is to start thinking according to the truth and live according to the Bible of truth. Acting is difficult, but there is no inherently easy way to believe that it will be successful. As for today's beliefist philosophy, what is positive or positive is just a secular prejudice that falls into successism as a psychological philosophy that has nothing to do with faith. If you focus your life solely on your own success, you will have no neighbors and will eventually fall into the world and be abandoned.
We only bless you and me who enjoy blessings by obeying the word of the Lord.
