Purpose-driven life (7) Why everything exists

Text: Romans 11:33-36 How deep is the riches of God's wisdom and knowledge, his judgments are beyond measure, and his ways are beyond finding. Who has known your heart? Who was his counselor? Who will give first to the Lord and be repaid? For all things come from the Lord, and through the Lord and to the Lord, to him the glory is forever. Amen

It can be seen that humans have a return instinct to return to their homeland. Even after death, people try to find a good place to be buried and, if you look closely, it is a kind of regression instinct. The desire to return to the homeland, the desire to die there and be buried there, is instinctive.

This regressive instinct to want to return home means that we have a hometown to return to somewhere. The desire to return to the hometown where we were born, the hometown where we are, ultimately, God has planted in us. We were created by God and born on this earth, but because of our sins, we were cut off from God and all of us left our hometown. This tendency to return to our homeland is ultimately our instinct to return to God.

God started our history, He directs it, He will judge it, He will make it history for Him. Therefore, we must properly recognize this flow of history and strive to faithfully live according to it. Then we will enjoy all the graces that God has promised to such righteous people. He takes hold of us and leads us, his descendants to be blessed, to possess the land, and to secure the future to salvation.

the way the Lord is pleased

In today's Bible verse, it is said, "For all things come from the Lord, and through the Lord and return to the Lord." It means that the world created by God and its history all proceed according to God's will and exist for Him. The flow of history is that it is supposed to flow naturally according to God's will, just as water flows to a lower place. In the end, no matter how hard you try, the history cannot deviate from God's will. Anyone who tries to go against the flow of history according to God's will to the end will experience death. Therefore, in order for a person to live a proper life, he must correctly grasp the will of God and follow the flow of his work properly.

In the Psalms it is said, “If the path we walk is pleasing to the Lord, then the Lord will guard our steps.” The path that pleases the Lord is the path that we walk according to the will of God. The way God is pleased is the way to know the history that flows according to God's will and to live according to it without going against it. Those who walk on that path properly are saying that God will guard their steps and, even if they fall, will lift them up and make the path prosperous.

The ultimate purpose of the universe is to show the glory of God, without which nothing would exist. But among all the creatures of the universe, only fallen angels and humans failed to glorify God. It is because of sin (Romans 3:23), which is love more than God. Living for the glory of God is the most important thing we can achieve through our lives.

Jesus said that he glorified the Father by doing what the Father told him to do, so that when the creation achieved its purpose, it was to glorify God (John 17:4). The glory of God is what human beings live fully. So we will learn in the future how we can glorify God by speaking to others through worship, by loving other believers, by becoming like Christ, by serving with our gifts.

What will we live for? Just as Jesus stood at the crossroads of disobedience and the way of the cross, so we must decide, like the Lord, between God's will and mine. Once you decide, God will give you the strength to live for God. A true life is a life devoted to the Lord, and for this, you must believe in God and receive the Lord (1 John 1:12) and become a member of God's family. Then you are ready to discover the purpose God has in your life and live by that purpose.

Even today, no matter how advanced science invents and achieves amazing things that have never been achieved before, if it does not follow God's work, it will eventually be pushed back into history and become another spectacle later. No matter how large the church grows, if it fails to discern and convey God's will in the right age, it will only remain as a joke for people in the future.

God started our history, He directs it, He will judge it, He will make it history for Him. Therefore, we should properly recognize this flow of history and strive to faithfully live according to it. Then we will enjoy all the graces that God has promised to such righteous people. He takes hold of us and leads us, his descendants to be blessed, to possess the land, and to secure the future to salvation.

Day 7 / About the purpose of my life

Point to Ponder: Everything is for Him.

Memorable Words: "For all things come from the Lord, and through the Lord and to the Lord, and to him the glory is forever. Amen" (Romans 11:36)

Questions that leave life:

1. Have you not tried to find the reason for your existence in yourself or in your family?

2. Have you tried the reception prayer? Can you admit that the Lord is in you?

3. In what part of your daily routine do you need to be more conscious of the glory of God?
