Jeremiah 17

5 This is what the LORD says: Cursed is everyone who believes in a man, and has made his power by blood and his heart and turns from the LORD

6. He will be like a bush in the desert, not seeing good things to come; he will dwell in the wilderness, in low tide, in dry land, in uninhabited land.

7. But everyone who trusts in the Lord and trusts in the Lord will be blessed.

8. He will be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads its roots by the riverbank, and is not afraid when the heat comes; its leaves are green, and there is no worry in a year of drought, and it does not cease to bear fruit.

9. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it?

Subject: Life in it

Text: Jeremiah 17:5-9, 1 Thessalonians 3:8-13

We encounter problems that lie before us every day. Some things can be easily solved with our experience, knowledge, and material possessions, but some feel our wretchedness in front of things that cannot be solved by our own strength. My judgment, my method, my knowledge, what kind of people do you look like when you are faced with problems that cannot be overcome even if you use all your backgrounds? Psalm 20 is a poem sung as part of a ceremony where the king, who is about to go to war, gathers up his army to go to war with him, gathers the congregation together, and offers prayers and sacrifices. In the urgency of war, between death and life, between prosperity and decline, we are praying to God based on their uncertain future and complicated mind. It deals with the pressing issue of life or death.

2 Chronicles 20 shows the background of the psalm more clearly. When King Jehoshaphat receives a message that the combined forces of Ammon and Moab have invaded Judah, he immediately declares a fast throughout the country. And they clearly knew that this war could never be won without God. I pray that God Himself will lead this war. The king stands and prays, and the Levites carry the prophetic words of strength and courage, exhorting the people of Israel to trust in God's almighty power and love for their people as they travel.

All difficulties are over. The wind and rain stopped. At the place where the horrors of war had ended, they praised God with Psalm 21.

Acknowledge that person. Ask that person. Take his hand.

Your problem will be solved. Your life will be enriched. Your path will unfold before your eyes. The invisible will be seen and you will know what kind of life is the real life. Meditate on Psalm 20 when you are tired. And as a word of assurance, remember Jeremiah 17:5-9. You will be victorious in the battle against the problems that lie before you with great power.
