Title: Life of Faith and Received Talents
Contents
Today, we would like to ponder the parable of the talents that we are familiar with. A certain owner went to a distant country, and left with his servants entrusting his capital to trade. It is said that one person gave five talents, another two dalats, and one person gave one talent. The word dalat means weight, and in today's money terms, it is generally said to be worth about three thousand US dollars. However, among the servants who received this talent, the servant who received five and two talents went right away and made a profit by doing business diligently. But the servant who had received one talent buried it in the ground.
After a long time, the owner came back and looked at the accounts. The servant who received the five talents and the servant who had received two talents left the product and brought it to the Lord, and the master was pleased and praised and rewarded them. However, when the servant who had received one talent was buried and returned as it is, the master was very angry and rebuked and punished him severely. Guys, the meaning is clear. The master here refers to the Jesus we serve. The servants here refer to us who believe in Jesus.
Even us who believe in Jesus today have received all the talents from Jesus. I have received all my gifts. The purpose of giving these talents from the Lord is to ask them to trade with them and leave them behind. But even today, there are some people who do business with this. However, some people just receive the gift and bury it. What we do know is that the time will come when we will appear before the Lord again and count the talents we have received.
As I said before, talent means weight, but in English, talent means talent. We have our talents from God. There is a gift. There are innate talents and there are talents received through the Holy Spirit. These talents are not exactly the same. Some got five, some got two. Someone got one. Also, there are several types. There are also many innate talents. In school, some students are good at languages and some are good at math. Some students are dexterous. The talents are different. Divine gifts are different. As recorded in Romans 12, each of us has different gifts according to the grace given to us.
Gentlemen, let us first clearly remember that we all have this gift of talent that we have received from God.
The following are all received in this way, but there are two kinds of servants. Some servants use the talents they have received and do business well according to the purpose the Lord has given them.
do a good job serve well. Some servants are given talents, but they do not trade. Dig it up and bury it. I don't work. Here, the servant who received five and two talents went right away and traded diligently.
There are many such species today. Develop talents and gifts from God. to study. research. These people become technicians. These people become experts. These people become authorities in every field. These people become doctors. These people serve in every field.
Do you know Elder Yonggi Kim? This man made good use of the talents he received. This man did not receive five talents in terms of education. You didn't go to high school or college. But he was given good hair and good health. received faith. With the talents he had received from God, Elder Lee decided to serve the countryside. To set an example, they went to barren land, bought it, and their families joined together to clear it. And to spread the farming method and Jesus to many people, he established the Canaan Farmers School. He emphasized the biblical admonition that if you don't want to work, don't eat.
All. Today, we too must use the talents we have received like him. But the servant who had received one talent took it and buried it. I don't know if I buried it because it was too little. Ladies and gentlemen, since I only have one talent, is there anyone who buryes it because it is not considered a big deal? In fact, burying one talent is a tragedy, but is there none of us who bury five or two talents?
Our talents, status, material things, health, and beauty are the talents the Lord has entrusted to me for a while. One of the famous singers in our country is Jo Mo.
He went to America to study theology. However, this man is not using the talent he has received from God for the glory of God, but is using it for his worldly desires. If this person does not repent, they will later hit the ground and weep. Esther heard that her uncle Mordecai was saying, 'Isn't this why you became queen?' Esther went to the king with the determination that 'if you die, you will die', and eventually rescued her people. Even ex-presidents of our country did not sit in that position to enjoy their wealth and powers when they became presidents, but on the contrary, most of them are making it difficult for the country and people and have resigned from their thrones without glorifying God. These are people who have buried their talents without using them.
The servant who had received one talent went to a distant country like the prodigal son and did not waste it in vain debauchery. I just brought it. But the Lord said, "You wicked and lazy servant!"
And he said, "Cast this useless servant out of the darkness, where there will be gnashing of teeth and weeping." There are active sins and passive sins. Active sins include murder, theft, fraud, and adultery. However, the passive sins are not obeying the master's command, not doing one's duty, not doing good, etc. Just as a barren fig tree is cursed, even a passive sin is an evil sin in the sight of God.
To bury the talents you have received without using them is an evil, lazy, and sinful work that will result in eternal destruction. You and I, more or less, have all received talents. Some teach well. Some people sing well. Some people are good at drawing. Others are good at socializing. Some people are good at writing, and there are people who have received all kinds of talents.
Everyone, with those talents, do you serve for the Lord, for the church, and for social justice? No matter how much I think about it, I don't know what kind of talent I have, is there anyone who thinks that?
A certain Kwon I know has heard that his talent is 'hospitality'. He invites many people to his house and serves meals, and I saw that he is really good at 'hospitating guests'.
I heard that one person, who had a stroke and was unable to use his hips, thought, 'What can I do for the Lord?' There is a way for everyone to serve if they have the will to do it.
Anyone who can sing, join the choir and serve. If you have the gift of teaching, serve as a Sunday School teacher. People who are good at socializing and have many friends, make special efforts to evangelize
Anyone can serve. I can serve in any way, whether at church or at home. You must not bury the gifts you have received. We must know that it is a very serious sin to bury it. The church is the body of Christ, and each of us belongs to it. Each possession is responsible for it. If we don't take responsibility for that, the body will get sick as much as we do. The church is like an organized band with many instruments. Each of you is an instrument. It is only when you make a sound that you can create great music to glorify people and God. Anyone can pray. If you think quietly and do not remember what I am going to do, you can pray for the church. Pray earnestly. Also, please do your best to clean every corner of the church building and create a good environment. Never bury your gifts.
Prayer: Loving God, I love you. The Lord is our everything. We want to imitate the character of the Lord. We want to work faithfully with the talents and mission the Lord has entrusted to us. I want to love the Lord with all my heart, mind, and soul. Thank you for entrusting us with the things you can serve and allowing us to be used as little instruments of the Lord. Please guide and protect us so that we can overcome the temptations and sins of the world and live. Help me to fulfill the role of light and salt well during my life in this world. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
